Benefits

I could get a job in your circumstances.

I hav zero sympathy for you

Mate, DHSF isn't wrong when he says businesses don't want overqualified people as they know they will leave as soon as they get a better offer. High turnover means more training, which costs money.

Currently couldn't give a fudge about salary. I just want a job.

I've been applying for warehouse work. I live in birmingham, which without this employment issue would be disappointing, which is (or at least was) one of the worst places for employment in the UK.

Partially qualified yes. I've been to the job agencies, they want people who have 6 months experience working in each area they want you for.

You have zero doubt? Don't make me laugh.

I'm with Leeds on this there's plenty of work out there. I've got two mates who work for employment agency in Reading just factory/warehouse work spoke to one few weeks ago they can't get enough people signed up and through ATM. For a start they say they just genuinely don't get enough people actually enquiring about jobs and secondly those that do a large percentage are uninterested when they are told they are earning 7 or 8 quid an hour for doing menial tasks see it beneath them.

gonads. My wife runs a recruitment agency in Leeds. Employs 10 consultants. So let's stop the flimflam. You want work, you get it. Not the work you want maybe, but work.

When I hear things like that it really tinkles me off, the media talk non stop about how there are no jobs out there when in reality people are looking down their noses at them, at least in some parts of the country.

Interesting to hear how your friends experience and DHSF's experience differs

Key word.

'Reading'

Whats the unemployment figures in Reading? last i checked it was getting close to 10% across the west midlands (though that was in feb)

I'll admit there are probably jobs out there somewhere, but there are lots of people who want them in birmingham.

No worries! I probably deserve it but it's how I feel, no point dressing it up and patronizing you.

Fair enough, i know some here would not appreciate it.

I've pretty much given up with it anyway, Keeping on it for two weeks and if nothing happens i'll get more 'overqualified'.

:D

Completely true. Or take a job and don't even fudging turn up, or fudge off at lunchtime.

I've done every brick job you can imagine, employed since I was 12 in some way or another. No sympathy here! :)

Wouldn't blame you. I'd rather be in the SU getting tinkled as well!!

Lol. Birmingham has a massive economy. The rate was high all through the 2000's. 5 times as many jobs in Brum as Reading.

gonads to that too.

What's the ten consultants got to do with anything? I bet they're consultants for specialist professional jobs.

I go into Pizza Hut today and I guarantee you they will just turn me away. Ok fine they may well worry that ill eat all the food but putting that aside they wont give someone like me a job.

Also I have paid my dues so I think someone like me, who has paid enough taxes and NI in the event of such circumstances as being redundant is deserving of getting those benefits specifically to give me time to get ANOTHER job in my profession. If you dont want me to collect benefits in such circumstance then well I want my future NI or taxes reduced to reflect that.

I agree that there are people who haven't worked a day in their lives and they shouldn't get the benefits but people like me should. Simple.

Spursalot - what is it that you do? Part qualified in what? and what facet of Accounting is your trade/specialist area?
