Anyone remember that Bale chap?

i don't think he'll come back, even though he said he wouldn't mind,if it goes ok in Spain,i.e language,if he's in a relationship,injuries,.......i can see him ticking a few other boxes of sides he wants to play for, italy or germany then i can see him go to man ure then if they are still a top four side in four /five years time.

Anyone who wants to become an honourary welshman he be turning up in Cardiff every other month at the end of the year.....thank the lord he's Welsh.

Ditto :| Well so long as Levy is chairman I cannot see Modric or Bale returning as I don't recall either of them continuing to show their love of Spurs in the same way that Ronaldo and Fabregas have done for their English clubs after moving to the Spanish giants.

Problem is what makes him unbelievable is the power and pace, will he still have this later in his career

I think that Gareth is smart enough to continue evolving his game and will find a way to adapt, like how Giggs has learnt how to cope without that whippet pace he had in his youth.

He is an incredible athletic talent but also a sublime footballer. I'm sure he will get the opportunity to go on and on. Note also he doesn't rely on elastic hamstringy speed it"s more mechanical.

He has already set a new template for footballers and he made the right move at the right time.

Underselling him there mate, he has great close control at that speed, and I'd suspect that at Madrid (and with Zidane in there) he will be developed into a bow with even more strings. His potential is frightening. I could easily see him as a centre forward when 'the burst' dissipates in 6-7 years time (by which time he'll have won everything bar international trophies)...

@BBCSporf: 8 YEARS AGO TODAY: A 16 year-old kid named Gareth Bale made his Southampton debut. What a talent he'd become. pic.twitter.com/GV8urwJRTD

He didn't have a great way to start the season, but he certainly knows how to finish. He rises to the big games now, these are his World Cups ! And we are poorer that can't be there, sigh ...

It's between Suarez, Ibrahimovic and Bale for the 3rd best player in the world award right now. I'd probably say Bale is but i'm probably being a bit biased.

he's been pretty spectacular really, Di Maria has to be in the conversation as well

you are wrong about Zlatan though, there is no way he's at the Suarez/Bale level, he's way higher than that

I used to operate cameras at the football, fair play to the operator who followed that at such speed!

Really puts into perspective how fast Bale was travelling at that angle.

Yep great footage. I was annoyed when he left as we all were but I cheered when he got the winner, fair play to the kid.
We aren't anywhere near Real Madrid so it would've been impossible to turn down a world record & to let him go to Real

I think its just me that does not think that goal is that great. Dont get me wrong. I still like Bale and im glad to see him succeeding in Madrid. Also I understand that its an important game against a top level team. But what I see in that goal is him out pace a slower player, cut in and almost lose his chance before a nice little poke through the legs for the goal.

A nice goal. A very nice goal. But not a worldy like some are saying. Especially Alonso who played alongside Gerrard and he for sure scored some worldy's in his time there.

I don't think anyone's saying it's the best goal he's ever scored but he did something pretty special to win an important game at a time when he was getting (harshly in my opinion) questioned about his ability in big games. I was happy for him when he scored

Obviously playing for Real Madrid alongside players of the higher caliber was a draw but also perhaps wanting to be immersed in another culture was a factor as well; If I was a footballer at his age I'd jump at the opportunity to travel. It'd be a dream for me to play for Spurs but I think I'd want to play in a different country as well. I haven't really been following it but has there been any reports of whether Bale is getting to some sort of level with his Spanish? Would be interesting to know

me too and im always surprised we never see many English players go abroad - you could probably pick up a decent wage and play at the higher end of the leagues in some very nice countries as opposed to turning out for Burnley or Oldham or whoever.
