My point was more about expectation.

Do we really expect to beat everyone in front of us with so many out and those left knackered?

It seems people are judging results in isolation as they are frustrated, with some entitlement in winning.

My example is that anyone can and will struggle when in our position.
We are clearly reading different threads, because just isn't true.
Talk has regularly focused on the record over the last few months with the caveat of injuries applied and on the overall record.
I'll draw your attention to my, and the replies to it, from a few pages back outlining the stats since min Nov (Ange's chosen timeframe for the injury impact)

We are judging it on us being brick since the first 10 games of last season.

I think they binned it on purpose.

They are in a great position. All about confirming CL qualification for them.
I'm not sure it was entirely on purpose; I think it was more play the B team and if it doesn't work out then it's not the end of the world. If we do go through, then we'll play the B team again.

I have been saying the same all season, a proper DM will make a lot of difference to our wide open CM.
The manager doesn't agree. I think he doesn't want a pure DM as he probably sees them as someone who doesn't contribute to the possession side of the game. If you recall in one of his early interviews he said something along the lines of "I don't believe in specialist DMs but i hope all my midfielders can contribute defensively"

So we can keep asking for it but it seems unless we can unearth a proper baller DM in the mould of a Rodri, Busquets or Rijakard then Ange is unlikely to want them.

The injuries are having a massive impact, and I can't see the club wanting to take the risk of repeating the pattern again from November next season, whether by coincidence or by design.

Our season now pretty much rests on the Europa League, barring a miracle run in the league (with others dropping enough points too) to get a European place. I can't see this squad uniting (or staying fit enough) under Ange to achieve either of these. Therefore, I feel the change is needed now.

A new manager coming in would have players returning from injury, have the opportunity to work with them in training and implement a (new) system, all of this coinciding with a 'new manager bounce'.

I've been supportive of Ange in general due to his philosophy of how the game should be played. I've sympathetic due to the volume of injuries, but the performances today in the FA Cup vs Villa and the League Cup SF performance on Thursday at Anfield (and even with the exhaustion that some of the squad will have), it feels as though the players aren't fully behind him.

A couple of days later, I still have the same feeling about the situation as I did when I originally posted this

Conceding 1.5 goals per game.

Definitely not my cup of tea.

You picked the negative part out. I'm more than happy with 2.06pts per game and GD average of 0.63 per game. Certainly would be now!

I dug a bit deeper - up until Romero and VDV's injuries this season and the subsequent decline, we'd only had 2 bad spells under Ange.

The Chelsea game in December 23 and the 4 games after.
Then 4 games at the end of last season where we lost away to Chelsea, Liverpool and Saudi Sportswashing Machine and at home to Arsenal.

Some people are just so hell bent on their own opinion (or what they hear) they wont consider the facts or context.

I'm not Ange in or out. I just like to look at things myself.

that’s a pretty bad spell
outside of that we also lost tamely to the likes of brighton, fulham and wolves just from memory.

he is not a good manager at this level

Well, looks like the club has decided to stick for now

Big concern is we are creating an ETH situation, at this stage do we really not know Ange's limitations?

A good last month of season could create a false view, if we start him next season the pressure would be extreme from day 1.

16 league games between 10th Dec 23 and 07 Apr 24

10 wins
3 draws
3 lost

33 goals scored
23 goals conceded

Might not be your cup of tea but I enjoyed that few months.
This reminds me of the scene in Fawlty Towers with the two old ladies eating a horribly poor quality and overcooked piece of meat.
They aren't happy with the quality, then proceed to say "oh look, there's a nice bit"

I am still in the Ange in camp [at least until the end of the season anyway] but you may be right about him not wanting one. If that IS the case then we will never get anywhere with our CM being wide open in every game. Time will tell i guess.

Conceding 1.5 goals a game means we'd need to score over that every game to win. That's not realistic or sustainable.

I don't accept 'my CB that's the quickest player in the league is out, so my defensive system is broken' as a reasonable excuse for a tactic breaking down either. Or even a tactic really.

Have a look how Bournemouth are managing, and Saudi Sportswashing Machine's injuries were worse than ours last year, yet they finished 7th. Do you not agree we have dropped many points even we have presented a better team than the opposition. The fact is our manager's tactics resemble that of a bunch of school kids running around the playground. There is little motivation, little structure, little organisation, and no leadership. If you can't see that you haven't been watching the games. In my opinion this manager is the worst we have ever had, and we have had a fair few bad ones
