Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

Bill Nick? A manager of ours actually referred to Bill Nick and the standards that great man laid down? Didn't simply dismiss all he achieved with a wave of the hand and a self-aggrandizing 'this is the best they've ever had it' and 'it doesn't get better than this'?

Wow, I think I'm in love. A manager who actually does his research before joining a club, how very novel. Go on, AVB :)

^^^^

That's great.

But I would have been even more impressed if he had credited Arthur Rowe with establishing the Spurs style.

And I agree with Naija.......enough Chelsea chat now. Keep it Spurs.

The media won't let it go, you know. And he'll have to keep answering ,lest they explode in outraged indignation and start a UK-wide media campaign demanding the re-appointment of the more 'approachable' Harry.

It's frustrating.

The media keep pushing him on Chelsea (probs because they've got no real Q's to ask until the football starts)

Trouble is, he's inclined to answer so he doesn't look defensive. Then the media twist it like he keeps talking about Chelsea, which, the more he talks, could just make him look bitter.

Since his unveiling as our head coach, I have watched his media performances with some interest, and that includes the carefully released pictures and statements from the training ground. My initial assessment of AVB is that he comes across as being an extremely intelligent and passionate man, who has a real sense of purpose. As stated in other posts, I have warmed to AVB, especially when he uses the word "we" to describe the club; his comments about Levy and what was achieved by Bill Nicholson.

However, talk is cheap and all that matters now is how we strengthen the squad and what happens on the pitch. AVB will make mistakes, but we as a fan base must give him and the team the opportunity to grow into the AVB system and to show a little patience when things do go wrong.

He achieved great things at Porto and I hope and I pray that he can achieve wonderful things with us. I guess there are reasons to be cheerful!? [-o<

Fat Lumpard has said a few nice words about us....

FRANK LAMPARD believes former boss Andre Villas-Boas is so lucky to have got the Tottenham job.

Not because AVB was such a flop during his short and ill-fated reign at Stamford Bridge.

Or because the pair never saw eye-to-eye during a controversial eight months at Chelsea.

But because he has been left one of the best groups of players in Europe and that should help him become an instant success at White Hart Lane.

Lampard explained: “AVB has inherited an exceptional squad of players.

A squad that’s good enough to bring Champions League football and contend for the Premier League title.

A team that’s played some terrific, thrilling attacking football and scored goals for fun.

“So AVB is a lucky man taking over at Spurs because the players are so very good.

Lampard, 34, certainly expects Villas-Boas to be doubly keen to try and take revenge on his former club when the two teams meet in the new season.

But the Blues hero says he will be working just as hard to make sure Chelsea have the last laugh.

He confessed: “Yes, AVB now being at Spurs will give those derby games even more of an edge.

“They are pretty edgy anyway but this will add even more.

“When I see him I’ll shake his hand and wish him all the best. But then I will try my best to beat him.”

And that is a confrontation no one will want to miss.

LampArd trying to put the wind in his sails etc, it's a basically a tinkle take , squads so good his nan could do it ,,, Chelsea have madevsome big signings and are poised on paper to do better in prem than last year .... Well see if Bobby Matthews honeymoon period etc holds out . As I dontbthink the ex west broom manager is a genius .. He's not a muppet but will he have the minerals/prowess to really kick on .... It's arguable he could be the first prem manager down the road ..... Chelsea are just slightly behind Goons in rival temperature for me ... AVB 3 points at bridge is fantasy

You guys make me laugh, so Lampard saying we have a good squad is gamesmanship? Give the lad some credit he had some nice words about us

I don't think anyone is suggesting that it's gamesmanship.

What we are saying is that his words strangely echo what Harry said when he claimed that, with this group of players, he could have won the title.

In other words, according to Lampard / Harry there are two possible conclusions that could be drawn at the end of the season. If Spurs have a great season............well, Harry said they would - because he left AVB such a great team. If Spurs have a poor season............Harry would have done better.

Lampard's just supporting his uncle.

I find the stuff AVB said about Bill Nick as interesting as anything Harry ever said. Ultimately it's all crap and I just want to see how we go on the pitch.
