Alex Pritchard

What? Since when?.... The loan players come back to have injuries assessed and some of them will occasionally take part in the odd behind closed doors friendly but that's about it.

to be fair i do remember a few seasons back where some youngsters on loan would train with us once or twice a week.

Of our loan players pritch has been the one I have followed most closely. Brentford fans I know raved about him. Good eye for a pass and
tidy at taking set pieces. Really hoped he would become the cover/ rotation for Eriksen. Hope we don't sell him.

Likewise, I followed him on League TV and other water features.

I would sort of agree with cover for Eriksen, but would tend to competition for Eriksen

Edited to add .... For all his worth, Mason is neither cover nor competition.

I hope Alex is in the squad ...great player! ..would cover for the two strikers who we all know will need to be swapped sub'd rested/injury etc..
Coys.....

He would be staying apart from Poch saying he isnt in our plans and needs to do one.

Source for that please .... I've only seen speculation based on him not going to Oz. Not ravelling could be more strengthening physio for his ankle - he was out for an entire season.

Check the pre-season thread, i have posted his reported comments from todays press conference.

I have to confess that I am somewhat disappointed that Alex Pritchard seemingly has no future at our club. That said, there have been many prospects over the years that I have been excited about who didn't make it at Spurs but went on to have reasonable careers elsewhere. I had great hopes for Alex, but if the manager has not seen enough to convince him then so be it. I cant actually think of any prospects that we have let go that we have regretted later, except possibly Peter Crouch?

Big regrets this lad won't have the chance to progress with us, he has been our most exciting home-grown prospect since Hoddle in my book. We have to accept that Poch knows precisely what he wants from his players, meaning in Alex's case there's at least one vital ingredient missing.

Whatever it is, and I have my suspicions, it certainly ain't talent, he has that in abundance. There's every chance he will now go on to become a major player for some other Premier League club so the very best of luck to him.

I will follow him with keen interest wherever he winds up.

In all the years I've been going I can only think of 3: Keith Weller, Graeme Souness and Kerry Dixon

hopefully we'll insert a buy back clause in any transfer deal for him, same as with Bentaleb or any other young player we sell on, Poch may not fancy/rate them but if he gets poached/sacked in a couple of years the players may fancy returning if the new manager rates them (and they go on to succeed elsewhere)

Crouch probably wouldn't have developed the way he did if he had stayed. Being sent out on loan is one thing, but it's something else when you don't have any safety net. Being paid peanuts and having to work hard to build a career does something to you.

Des Walker, Graham Souness, David Beckham

More recently Clyne and Adam Smith are arguably better than Trippier.

Not Crouch though :)

Pritchard has barely kicked a ball in anger for the first team. Yet I don't think I remember a youth player who's excited Spurs fans more. Maybe Marcus Edwards will - and that's the point, we need room for the likes of him. Pritchard is what 5 years older than Edwards! Poch and the coaches have seen these players training week in and out, and of course have an insight we don't.

I couldn't pass any sort of judgment personally as I've hardly seen Pritchard play!
