*** Tottenham Hotspur v Bodo/Glimt *** Semi final , 1st leg 1/5/25.

In fairness, we've been freaking ourselves out all season so should be comfortable with being uncomfortable?

As a Spurs fan born in 1993 I know virtually nothing about being comfortable.

The only trophy I have witnessd us win in my lifetime was a goal which deflected of Woodys face.

Comortable in uncomfort? HA HA HA

Come see what Spurs created

I’m annoyed we didn’t win by at least four. They were there for the taking at 3-0 - we had enough chances to win with at least five. 27 attempts to their 3? fudge me, we murdered them. We pressed them well, and they made mistake after mistake - we need to do that up there as well. All in all a very good game by us, I thought - credit to Ange for being more pragmatic and for the players to follow the plan. At least this result will keep us on our toes - we will need that up there, beyond the wall.

Same here. To go from 3-0 at home with half an hour left to giving them a realistic chance next week is negligent. Actually unprofessional I would say. I’m a lot less confident than I was this time yesterday.

I think there's an obvious reason the goal they scored has put a level of unease amongst us, and that's because all season we've proven we can wobble like hell.
Defensively we've proven that although we are capable of great bits of individual defending (Porro had one last night) we are MORE than capable of terrible individual pieces of defending and collectively as a defence we offer next to nothing.
Yes, it was a much better performance versus Frankfurt, but that is an outlier. I'm hoping the gravity of the game switches the quality gene on in our players and that in itself will be enough, with or without Ange. Grind it out with nous and physical strength of need be.

They are going to need no invitation to put the frightners on us though. Watch back their goals at home versus Lazio...smart, creative and full of confidence.
Any team attacking with smart, slick interlinking play worries me versus a team that is often out of position or ball watches.

We have to remember as well they have players back... we'll probably have more missing.

3-1 is still a good lead though.

We’ve proven it over decades!

For us, in a final? Yes. They are jammy as fudge, and will get every decision! Just look at what they got a penalty and red card for yesterday!
Sorry, but that is flimflam and a loser mentality. They don't get any preferential treatment from refs. They got a stonewall pen and we got a much softer pen. It was a red card, professional foul with no intention to play the ball.

Have to kind of disagree there, you're talking as if this is an Ange thing when the fact is in the cups we have found ways to get knocked out no matter how good we are. Also, I actually feel comfortable with us when we have the back 5 of Vicario/Porro/Romero/VDV/Udogie. I'd like to see the stats, but I'm pretty sure they haven't played together too often this season and when they have our performances (and probably results have been much better).

As a sidenote, have to say loads were going on about how tactically great this coach is - Well low and behold they looked poor, yes they were missing a couple of key players but according to the masses when critiquing Ange that doesn't matter, you find a way round it (and we suffered a hell of a lot more injuries and for a long period). Just like with the temporary savior Ireola, once his team picked up injuries his team tailed off. Maybe, just maybe losing the ridiculous amount of players we did for such a period of time isn't as simple to deal with as some liked to make out. Just a thought......

Can't say I'm glad they scored but I think it will focus our minds. Three zip and I can see us being sloppy, losing an early goal and going into panic mode.
Was surprised at how composed we were after conceding last night, they were expecting us to lose our shape and discipline, we didn't, we stuck to the plan and for executed it.

Only down side of last night is where has this been for the last 18 months?
Not just the manager but the players, some of them really stepped up last night.

Of course I'm basing it around current circumstances. Getting knocked out in cups is the norm for everyone apart from the winner. So yes, most teams will find a way.
I'm just espousing my opinion based on the evidence I've seen (even from our defensive first choice five).

Plus always best (wise) to manage your expectations ;)

You're right the unease is always there but I really don't think we did that much wrong defensively. But for the deflection, that shot looks to be saved comfortably by Vicario. It's a shame, frustrating etc...but for all the talk of how they attack I thought it was actually a really simple game for us. I didn't see much to think that they'll beat us 3-0 next week (famous last words.)

Yeah I thought the players we need to step up eg Romero (although what was that stupid foul about, just Romero being Romero I guess) and Maddison did last night. But they don't do it enough....

Were they poor, or playing a 180 minute game and tricking us into lowering our guard before they blow us away in H2?
