Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Quite a feather in Anges tactical cap on Sunday, and against a good side.
Also, big payback for last season's home game against them when we should probably have had a similar scoreline.

How he used Sarr and Udogie in that second half was a big demonstration for me on how he can turn a game...and why i still get annoyed thinking about Brighton!! Grrr!

I also saw some much smarter defensive lines taken and much sharper attempts at stopping Villa such as how Davies stopped them early in their counter-attack attempt that lead to our second goal, then also some of the possession game we played in those last 15 minutes, 10 of which was injury time.

Now to replicate this kind of turning the screw in the second half away from home when we are up against a crowd demanding our dismemberment!

All in all, great stuff from Ange.

Ange isn't playing subueto. Do you really think he has that much control over individual players during a game? He doesn't deserve that much credit for the second half. The who intensity of the game lifted -- the ref, crowd and players contributing in a big way -- and a bit of individual genius from Son (that cross was incredible) got the early goal that we needed to give the players the confidence to push even harder.

Same with Davies' tackle. Ange didn't move him there. That was very good decision making from Davies, followed by sublime skill from Sarr, Kulusevski and Solanke.

Off topic …. But Dimitar berbatov the most naturally technically gifted player to have put a spurs shirt on? His touch still has me creaming my pants (bad pun)

Well if it’s the most technically gifted player to have put on a Spurs shirt then there’s one player who surely must rate even higher than Hoddle, Gazza and Berbatov…

Well according to Glenn anyway!

MOTD did analysis on the change he did for Destiny which made him overlap more than he did first half and that gave Son space to do the cross as that pulled the villa defenders out. As we were not having much luck in first half. So yeh i do think Ange did tweak something as well as what you listed

I saw that and it seemed to make sense…until I saw this:

I’m certainly not saying Ange deserves no credit (most people accuse me of liking him too much!) But I think there was more to the second half then what he did, just like there was more to the Brighton second half than what he didn’t do.

But if all that didn’t happen and we lost, it would be all Ange’s fault? Give him a bit of credit jesus.

Well, we just saw that video from Joe Hart talking about how Ange coached him into seeing certain things in order to be successful playing the ball out from the back. Who's to say he didn't have a word with Davies about defending further up to cut off Villa's passes from their own zone?

There will have been coaching staff sitting upstairs watching for opponent's tendencies and relaying info or video clips to use at halftime. Just look at the third goal when Sarr was superbly positioned to intercept a pass and start the counter attack.

With the goal Son set up, maybe the word to the wingers was to get the crosses in quicker. When I watched that goal back a few times, I was surprised Son didn't try to take it deeper before crossing. He often dribbles forward to see if there's an option to cut inside and bend one at goal. But it was the right decision, especially considering he had both Solanke and goalscorer Johnson in position to play the ball.

I think it was this week’s Last Word on Spurs podcast (although I’ve listened to a few over the past couple of days, so I may be wrong!) which was discussing that very few successful businesses have the same person in charge for 20+ years. Change at the top is often necessary to ensure continuing success.

But it can happen.
