Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Conte wasn't the problem either. Even in his parting rant that people hated - he gave us some cold hard truths that still, to this day, are as true as the day he said them.

"20 years here the owners and they win nothing. Why?"

Mourinho, eh.

As for the recruitment team, I am not convinced we do have the right recruitment team at all. This Lange character did not come with a good CV from Villa - neither did that Aussie rando we got off some club out there, Munn. The last good head of recruitment we had was Paratici - before him, probably Michael Edwards in the early 2010s.

As for Levy Out...well, you know my thoughts on that mate. ;)
Our recruitment team is crap. Apart from VDV who have we bought in the last 3 windows whose improved the team?
Please dont say Solanke.

Stats mean eff all of you keep being naive at set pieces and leaving gaping holes at the back with similar yellow belly crumbles. I just don’t see how he has not addressed any of this seeing that it’s glaringly obvious not only to us but to the opposition also.

XG XA etc are good but it only works well when the main stat is in play and that is points.

I’m concerned at the genuine inconsistency and by players who run around like they don’t have a clue of what’s going on.

The games that you have mentioned, city have been pants for the patch that we played them, United were going to sack a similar inept football manager when we played them, and villas form in the league has been questionable also.

Why not also look at the flip side? Brighton, palace, Ipswich, Leicester …

How do you know the next manager will be more of a point than postecoglu … are you suggesting that we are looking to get Wayne Rooney in?

There are better managers in the world that could do a better job with this current squad. That’s my opinion but if you think he’s the best man to do a job then fair enough.

Like I said I think if this continues he will get hooked regardless of our opinions.
If we keep changing the manager every 18 months, we will get nowhere. I want a bit of consistency, and would want the manager staying at least this and next season.

I'm generally with you there.

Devils advocate question - will you think the same if come the start of Jan we are 15th and only a few points out of the bottom three?

Would depend on a lot of things. If things have totally gone to pieces, and players cleary have turned their back to Ange, it would be different.

What if he really is as crap as many performances have suggested? Just keep going?
The negativity is not warranted. At times I get the feeling people are not realistic about their expectations of Spurs and transmit some real life frustrations on the club.
We were told by the chairman that the stadium was “a game changer.” Then, at the beginning of the season the manager was indicating we’d be having a tilt at the title, while reminding everyone that he always wins a trophy in his second season.

So, perhaps not that difficult to see why some fans may be expecting more than they’ve been getting.

He isn't crap, he's a winner. And I don't think there are that many performances were we have been crap. We've been the better team in the majority of games, and then been quite bad in some. If we'd been 6 points better off, which we would have deserved, this discussion wouldn't be here. Fine margins.

Without getting into that discussion again, he’s been a winner in very different types of leagues. I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but I don’t think there can be as much certainty around him as some think. And simply giving him more time doesn’t guarantee it’ll come good eventually.

I definitely disagree on performances. There have been few games in which we’ve played really well for the last year imo.

Totally agree, being a winner with Celtic in Scotland does not equate to leading Spurs in the EPL, a much harder proposition .
This "always wins a trophy in his 2nd season " storyline is a BS attempt at fan appeasement.
However, the problems at Spurs, for a very long time, do not stem from the manager and players it comes from a board who think go karting and NFL have equal position with the football club.

The main issue I believe is that Son can't lead the line like Solanke does. This then cause real issues with the rest of the system.

I'd be really tempted to go with Lankshear if Dom and Richy are unavailable and have Son back on the left. I'd also start Deki right and have Johnson come on later as he seems to gel better with Porro.

I think Richi has been a bigger miss than many people appreciate. Not just because Solanke could then get some much needed rest, but because he is the one guy other than Johnson who has demonstrated he can score goals finishing off the typical Ange ball moves.....

We should definitely have had a few more points, hopefully that evens itself out over the season. We have a Goal difference of plus 13, the fact that when we win we often win well and when we lose it tends to be by the odd goal tells me that we aren't too far off of getting things right....

I agree Ange has said numerous times we are at the beginning of our journey. So to act now makes no sence.if at the end of the season we can't see any improvements then maybe we act.

His first game was the 4-4 at the deathstar. A night I enjoyed immensely, but we did let in 4 goals. We then got absolutely hammered by Liverpool for 70 mins but ended up winning 2-1 (another cracking day out FWIW)...

Wasn’t it the fudging run around a bit 1-0 over Liverpool?

Edit.

We were both wrong. It was a 2-0 at home to Bolton.

After he took over we went on to have 12 clean sheets in the league. A huge turnaround defensively.

It make me so angry that Ange didn’t go with Lankshear
The ball retention last week was fudging horrendous
Sonny has never been a striker. He was a word class counter attacking forward but he ain’t learning to control a ball better At his age
It was grim and exposed all his bad points whilst we had a lad on the bench who can play CF. He played him away in Turkey in the most hostile place to play and he scored and also hurt their players (literally)
Weak management

2 of these managers had serious pedigree and thus a reason to believe that it would work given time. Arteta is the closest to Ange's situation but even then just because it worked in those situations doesn't mean it will with Ange.

We could probably find other managers with similar or better numbers after 50 games when it didn't work for. So these kind of comparisons are kind silly tbh.

I say that and I'm not even Ange out.
