Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

That’s the excuse that gets repeated but look at the goals we have been conceding and tell me where the what ditch effort is needed?
Stopping a cross when 8 men in your team are behind you is key
Winning a header is key
The players are in the right places but do the wrong things. That’s not the system
That's in isolation though isn't it. If you play in a system that requires prolonged physical exertion then mistakes due to fatigue are more likely to happen.

If the players are in the right place but doing the wrong thing repeatedly then I would argue that it must be partly the system as tactics are more than just standing in the right place, it's doing the right things. If payers aren't doing that then play others.

If the players in totality aren't good enough then you should have a system that tries to minimise their deficiencies.

But the players are constantly in the wrong place, which is why we keep giving up chances to an unmarked player at the far post.

It’s both. We concede too many goals for all of them to be individual errors/mistakes. Forget the stats, how often do you watch us and think yeah we look solid today?

It should be one of the easiest things to fix, to make a team more solid. I always go back to when Redknapp took over and he said Spurs are too soft and he almost immediately made us harder to beat and we finished the season with the best home defensive record in the league despite finishing 8th.

Case in point would be that cross to our right side and take your pick of Johnson, Porro and or Romero doing the wrong thing.

We constantly defend those crosses with an attacker over spare, yet I'm told Johnson isn't at fault as he's told to stay high. So who's meant to be helping Porro on that side, or is it in fact Johnson not putting in the yards/bottling it? Is Porro meant to play as a #10 but still deal with that? Etc etc

Yeah
But not because of the system
Because of their own movements and mistakes
The system isn’t what Romero handed off vardy at Lestah
Or why Porro and Johnson didn’t go for the ball cos Ipswich
Or why Destiny rarely stops a cross

If the players are in the right place, that positional and normally people say that’s coaching …. I’m not sure
It’s worth remembering how simple the goals are we concede. You don’t even need to put an amazing ball in when you know we don’t jump

Some times but not often, mainly because I am used to seeing us be dominant and concede. Again, that’s not because of a high line or passing out that worries me.
It’s the history of players missing a cross, not blocking one, shanking a clearance or just marking space
Recurring themes and nothing to do with tactics
It could be we coach players to mark space of course

On the flip side in a system that offered them a respite and less last ditch defending how would they look.

There's as much significant questions about the attacking players. So are we saying the whole team needs to be ditched?
-Vic would still be shot at corners
-Romero would still go galavanting and make rash challenges - he did pre Ange
-Bent would still throw bottles into a crowd, make misjudged comments about race and be injury prone
-Udogie still wouldn't be able to do defensive basics

None of those are directly system based. They are mentality based.
I have the same concerns about the lack of protection within the formation, and the I'm not surprised that teams have easily worked out how to nulify the attack.

But if (and it's a big if) these four are throwing toys out of prams, they need to open the door of the glass house in which they throw it.

Just to add to that - my post wasn't about ability; it was about a balance of ability and attitude.
No-one in our team is playing consistently well enough to throw their toys out of the pram.
That said, the league is so tight year, I'll reserve judgement until Feb - I genuinely don't think the league will fully take shape until then. Which is pretty interesting! Albeit frustrating.
We could be 3rd or 10th at that point!! And neither would be a surprise.

1) It's footyinsider
2) Ange is massive on character, if he's fallen out with them he wouldn't consistently be playing them

Couldn't possibly be a load of gonads for clicks at a time when there's nothing but a load of boring internationals going on? Surely not.....

The winner, it always surprises me that there are so many fans believe all the brick they read.
