Yup and he's still with them. Even made the 2016 Euro squad. Not a terrible option, but surprised no European team came calling. Shirley a mid-table German, French, or Spanish team would have been a better option.

Better option for him, yes, but I can understand why none came in for him. He's effectively not played for a couple years and his wages are probably higher than, say, a lower half French team could afford. I'd have thought a big Mexican team would be able to pay more in wages and fee than the sort of European club who might be interested

I find it hard to believe that a Mexican team would be able to afford his salary more than a top 5 European league team, but you may be right.
