Vincent Janssen

It's not a bad trait, but surely playing week in week out is better than not even being in the bench.

Mute point now as it wouldn't have been a loan

That would have been the case last summer too then because he must've known that he had little chance of displacing Kane.

But I would have thought he would have got more playing time than he did, even as second choice.

He ended up third choice behind Son.

I am kind of hoping that Poch see's the 2 of them as a Kane replacement when the guy needs a rest, Maybe switch the system to 2 up front to take the pressure of Janssen a bit.

Feel sorry for the lad.
Needs regular football if he st stand any chance of progressing.
Now he just going to get even less football.
It's unfair on the player.

What is unfair on him? Us signing Llorente?!? We cant not sign someone just to be nice to Vincent Janssen! He's earning tens of thousands per week, had the chance last season at Spurs and now had the opportunity to move to Brighton to get more regular football which he turned down. Plus side is that it suggests he wants to fight for his place and prove himself, downside is that, as you say, he'll play even less. A loan would have been best for him I guess - maybe thats what might happen in Jan

I wonder if Janssen will still be Poch's go to guy if Kane is out. He is closer in style to Kane than Llorente would be.

One thing it shows me is he is determined and that has helped him in his career so far. Hopefully it helps him again this season to the benefit of Spurs.

I agree he needs football, but that is down to him.

He had the chance to leave and didn't.

Not really unfair on him, if he scored more last season this wouldn't be a discussion.

If he takes his chances he will get more this season.

Letting him speak to Brighton would suggest not?

I like Janssen, I think theres a quality player in there, and I genuinely hope he comes good.

That being said its hard to argue last season was anything but a flop for him. And I believe his latter performances really showed it was getting to him.

If his head/confidence was going, as appeared to me, what will being 3rd choice do to him?

Interesting times.

Maybe its the thing that spurs him on and he really finds his feet, or maybe its the thing that breaks him down further.

Either way, I think we were absolutely right in getting Llorente in. A proven scorer, excellent in the box, excellent in the air, and old enough to know his place is in the squad.

This had to be done, because Janssen just didnt do it last season.

I agree.
What is unfair is probably the advice he is getting.
I thought WBA and Stoke where sniffing?
Brighton at least would have been playing time.

I am glad he is still here ( there is a good player in there), having Llorente here will help him learn to improve his overall game ( his biggest fault/weakness imo) is the movement in the box and Llorente is just the man to teach/help him with this.
That's an interesting point. Could one of the attractions of Llorente be that he can bring Janssen along and help him mature his game?

Shame there isn't a Spanish club interested in him. Their window is open until tonight. He would do well in La Liga, slower pace, more technical.
