I doesn't help when the press have headlines about VAR awarding Barcelona the goal. There was a goal, VAR was consulted to check a matter of fact (was it offside?) and after review the goal stood. Even if the decision went the other way it should have been goal ruled out because of offside seen by the linesman, not the inevitable VAR denies Barcelona goal.
 
That’s why it’s justified, can you imagine how we’d feel had the game ended 4-4, we’d been eliminated then found out about the offside.

This is why we have to have it, and it’s probably only when you are in this situation that you appreciate how vital it is.

I dunno, just giving VAR the benefit of the doubt.

I like the idea of every Spurs goal being reviewed so they can tack on an opposition card too though.

It’s worrying if they reviewed it for handball as under the current rules, had it have gone in off of Fernando’s lovely supple forearm it still wouldn’t have been a foul.
 
It's interesting that the three key VAR decisions in the tie all went in favour of the away team. Without it both the Rose "handball" and Sterling winner would have gone with the home team.
 
Did VAR add something to the Emirates Marketing Project-Tottenham game? Either way, Burnley manager Sean Dyche believes it is here to stay.

“VAR has to be there for me," he said. "I’m still a bit unsure why you need a referee to go and view a monitor.

"The cold view of someone watching, away from the game, is the way to go in my opinion. But it’s a necessary thing. There is so much at stake in games.”
