UFO’s - Do You Believe ?

I actually know the UK's premier UFO hunter - the guy who curates/released the National Archives records on them (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ufos/). Basically it's all gonads. A combination of nutters, animals, weather and military manoeuvers (TR-3As etc.).

There's also an interesting stat that there were almost no recorded sightings anywhere in the world prior to the release of The Day The Earth Stood Still in 1951, the year after which sightings rocketed a thousand-fold.

That's not to say there aren't other sentient species in other corners of the universe. But there haven't been any visit earth

I'm sure it's true that the film drove sightings but there were many very famous recorded UFO sightings and "incidents" that happened prior to 1951.

Roswell was in 1947 for one.

What the Actual F uck! If he wasn't American I would swear it was a parody... But it's not a parody is it?
There’s nothing parod...ic about the elite eating babies and hailing Satan.

Like all conspiracy theories, it fails on two counts. Too many people would have to know and it would leak, governments would have to be competent.

The reason that conspiracy theories are popular is that people like the idea of there being some grand plan and someone being in control, rather than the truth, which is that we are all bumbling idiots making it up as we go along.

Why do these aliens keep crashing their saucers every damn time they come here? They travel all this way, then go dish first into the desert sand. Not a moutain or tree in sight, just sand and bushes. Amateurs.

They are probably getting over exited at the prospect of inserting an anal probe in a redneck.

You'd think there would at least be some sort of convincing evidence somewhere if aliens have indeed visited the earth. All the videos and photos I've seen are so grainy and brick it could be anything. Anyone who's ever spoken about this or that have never been able to cough up any actual proof to support their claims, on the contrary, most if not all of them have been exposed as pathological liars. :p

I reckon there's intelligent life in the universe due to the sheer size of it, but I don't think they've been anywhere near us, and most likely never will be.

Having said that, I think the Ariel School incident is interesting, as well as the skinwalker ranch thing. Not really implying they're proof of anything, but interesting stories.

I think there are 2 options

1. There are millions of life forms all over the universe but none have reached a level of technology to migrate outside of their solar system and we are in an unknown race to be the first
2. The rest of the universe is teaming with space faring life and we are the galactic version of Norfolk, no one wants to come here and they all make jokes about us being inbred

One thing I'm pretty sure of is that we are not alone.

Actually, here's a scary thought what if we are at the top of the evolutionary ladder, I mean someone has to be the first to travel the galaxies, what if its us!!

The universe is 14 billion years old. If we're the best it can come up with in that time and expanse - a race that can't get a phone battery to last 12 hours and only thought about wheels for suitcases in the last 20 years - then oh dear

Yeah but we also made a contraption where you can take a photo of yourself and the surrounding area at arms length to post on platforms that show us living our best lives whether we actually are or not, so I don’t get your point.

I truly want to believe in life forms throughout the universe visiting us and defying our knowledge of space and time travel, but will remain sceptical until concrete evidence is provided. That being said, as others have stated the law of probability would suggest there is life elsewhere in the universe. We don’t even know what’s in the bottom of our oceans so it would be arrogant to completely dismiss it in my opinion.

This is definitely the big question mark for me. The fact reports of UFOs became a culturak urban legend before the reports came in.

Even ‘War of the worlds’ was written in 1898 and the famous radio broadcast, which many switched on thinking it was a genuine news announcement, was in 1938 - so definitely enough time for the notion to be planted in people’s minds.

Then if you watch Ancient Aliens they try to interpret the origins of myths to extraterrestrial visits through a modern day cultural lens - as if myths have ever been considered a solid source for historical information anyway.

One of the proposed answers to the Fermi paradox is that we may be the first intelligent civilisation to develop but I believe scientists lean more towards us being late to the party and everything else has long died.

Really as a civilisation we are still so new. We've only been out of the trees for 4 million years, and modern humans have only been going 100,000 years. We only stopped throwing our feaces out of the window like what 100-200 years ago?

If extraterrestrials were to look through high powered telescope at the earth, they could well be seeing it from such a long time ago due to the light years involved they may not even see any life, or even water, on earth and they could be wondering where the fudge everyone is as well!
