Someone said in another thread that we should loan some players to Sheff Weds.
I mentioned before we should set up a few "consistent" loan clubs that we farm the kids out to, e.g. one in League 2/ L1 / Champ or maybe in Scotland or Belgium or France, but easier if somewhere near to London like Leyton Orient etcetera.

Is that allowed and does any club do it (apart from the groups like Blueco with Strasbourg and City Group etc).
Is there a benefit to searching out all these random deals with Cov/QPR/Portsmouth/Hibs/Rangers/Preston etc rather than cosying up to a few?
 
Four young lads that sound very grounded. Loved the look of Rio during the pre-season matches. Feels like Malachi Hardy is the one with the best chance of breaking through, though that might be limited by the CBs we have in front of him.

It's probably a pinch-me moment for four young footballers, graduates from our Academy, taking a casual stroll under blue skies in the shadow of two of the world's iconic attractions - the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Tyrese Hall, Malachi Hardy, Rio Kyerematen and Tyler Tingey are right in the middle of tourist central in this beautiful city.

Suddenly, a young boy runs over.

"Are you Spurs players?" he asks, innocently.

The tracksuits have probably given it away.

"Yes, we are," they reply. "Would you like a photo?"


The boy, no older than five or six, somewhat sheepishly joins them on the end of the row as mum grabs her phone.

"No, come on, get right in here," our lads say, and make the lad's day as he gets his photo right in the middle of the group.

That's a snapshot of why these players are a credit to our Academy and Tottenham Hotspur - polite, unassuming, a pleasure to be around.

But don't let that hide their determination make it.

It's a long journey - join the Academy, get through the schoolboy years, get taken on full-time, Under-18s, professional contracts, Under-21s, potential loans - and even then, first team football - playing for Spurs - might seem a long way off.

Going on tour is a step in the right direction - after 10 days Down Under, they told us what it's like to be part of it as Roberto De Zerbi shapes the squad for the season ahead.

Q1 | As a player who has come through our Academy system, what’s it like to be on tour with the first team – especially New Zealand and here in Sydney, Australia?

Tyler: “It's definitely a great opportunity to learn from top professionals about how to behave and how you should be acting to try and give yourself the best chance for the future.”

Malachi: “Yes, it's a great to be around all the players and to just experience something that you don't really get to experience often and then take it back when you go back to the club.”

Rio: “It's a good experience to try to impress the manager, the coach and staff here, show what you can do and also talk to your team-mates, get to know more people and yeah, just enjoy the surroundings.”

Tyrese: “I think it's good to be with top professionals every day, take what you can from them and take it into your game when you go back to the club.”

Q2 | You are training with Roberto and the first team every day – what are you picking up, what are you learning about yourselves?

Tyler: “I think it's to be ready to keep going non-stop, game, training, demanding high levels from yourself every day, never slacking, always being a professional, whether that's on the pitch or off it.”

Malachi: “I think for me it's just being focused, because obviously the gaffer is very detailed in what he's trying to get across to us and all the smaller bits from the game that he wants us to take on board. So, I think just focusing in on that and bringing it to the game.”

Rio: “Similar to Malachi, just stay focused, concentration, every day giving it your all and making sure you come ready because there's a lot that's to do in there, so you've got to be ready.”

Tyrese: “I’d say pretty much the same, also learning, watching what the first team players are doing, picking up little bits from their game and taking it into my game.”

Q3 | A manager once said to me that he loved to see Academy players progress because they always have that love for the club, that connection – is that how you see it?

Tyler: “Yeah, definitely. I think being a Spurs fan as well, it means a lot to be wearing the badge and getting to play in front of our fans out here, it’s definitely a proud moment.”

Malachi: “Yeah, it's just crazy. You're growing up with this as a kid and then obviously you already have that connection with the fans, being one previously, but then you get to play in front of them, and you know how they're feeling and all their emotions. It feels like it's more for you because you've been through both sides of it.”

Rio: “Yeah, it's where you want to be. Obviously, the fans come to watch us and we were all fans when we were young, so it's where we want to be and hopefully we can push and take our opportunities.”

Tyrese: “It definitely means a lot being here from such a young age, being able to be around the players you used to watch on TV and stuff, so it's definitely a surreal moment.”

Q4 | Taking it a step further, what would it mean to you all to break through and wear this badge regularly as a Spurs player?

Tyler: “Yeah, everything really. To be coming from a big Spurs family, I think that's the goal and the dream, to play for this club and get to play in front of our unreal fans every week.”

Malachi: “I think it's the aim of every young player in the Academy, to be aiming to be in the first team and obviously feeling so close to it right now is a good motivation to be able to get our debuts and then push on further and be at the club for a long time.”

Rio: “Yeah, that's the dream and that's what we all work hard for, since we were little, to be here, to get moments like this. It would mean a lot to all of us to break through.”

Tyrese: “It would mean a lot after all the sacrifices our parents made when we were younger, taking us to training, all the late nights and the early mornings. It would definitely mean a lot to break through."

Q5 | You’ve progressed through the Academy, you’re all now professional players at Tottenham Hotspur – how does life change? I’m thinking friends, family, perceptions…

Tyler: “I think you have to act as if it doesn't change, to be a professional, whether you're wearing the badge or not, don't get too carried away with what you're doing and try to keep yourself grounded, even when you're thinking you're in a pinch-me moment, just remembering what you're here to do and that you've still got a long way to go in the game.”

Malachi: “It comes as a shock suddenly realising that this is what you're doing. Your mates probably didn't really expect that or they were watching games and now they might see you playing or see more of you in this environment.”

Rio: “I think it's a different responsibility. You have this badge on your chest now. Every day you've got to be a top athlete, a top professional, you can't stop. You've got to work hard, train hard every day and give your all. There's not a lot of time for friends as much. In fact, there's no time to do a lot of things, but you've got to focus and have that mentality.”

Tyrese: “I'd say it’s about staying humble, really. There are millions of people who want to be in the position that we're in right now. We're fortunate enough to be here through all the hard work that we've put in over the years, but stay humble.”
