There was some early melting from some of our fans over this loan move when it didn't start off very well but having to come through some hard circumstances can teach a player a lot - hopefully he carries on this recent run of form.

A point guarantees a spot in round of 32, even losing 1-0 could be ok. This progression format is same as USAetc 2026 World Cup.
2mins - Got an early knock when shaping for a shot, but shook it off while defender needed a few mins treatment and they're playing with 10 pending a deciding on subbing him.

34mins - their striker in our area, gets blocked and touched by takes two more strides in which he plays the ball with each thigh. Second touch is too heavy so as he is losing the ball he does a fantastic Tom Daley impression. Ball cleared but crowd going bonkers and coach uses an appeal card - Brazilian ref looks at vid - NO penalty. One card gone, one to go.
LWB fouled again, Heskey fouled again. Gonna be like that, then. Free kick cleared for corner. but keeper gets it - he seems quite effective.
45 mins (5 added to come) - dubious FK to them and yellow for us, well stopped near post, and again, then scored. Ref calls offside, did they play their second appeal card and another of theirs gets treatment.
Play continues, booking for 'tackle' on their keeper - who readers will not be surprised to learn - needs treatment.
Now they play the card - looking for a red. Looks like both made contact with trailing legs and yellow it remains. No more cards for them?

And they fet things under way (after ref told them to try again) - no subs at interval ? just the one stretcher case in 1st half.
48min lovely fk from them to top corner, but keeper made a great stretch to put it round the post. No treatment yet. Constant pressure on us, another stop from keeper. He sits outside box and here come Doug & Dinsdale, magic sponge bearers. Soon fixed.
55min 2-0 Another pointless fk near linesman - cleared to LWB just outide our D, runs forward then splitting pass which Heskey follows from our half and nutmegs their keeper
57min they (2 simultaneously - 10yds apart) adopt Venezuela 'clutching face' tactic with LWB running in their half.
62min LWB ends up with ball in their area and ref close by sees him dragged down. Penalty, and they have no card to get it reviewed.
Heskey takes it pretty casually- saved - Heskey gets to it and puts back across area for Ridgeon and keeper has to makre another gleaming stop.
65min LWB subbed off, just as he's making more and more trouble for them.
