I definitely feel its a "thing" that players from certain parts of the world can struggle in certain leagues.

And, at this point, Russian and Ukranian players are yet to be really considered a success in the EPL IMO.

For me its a cultural thing, both on and off the pitch. Understanding the way of working and living is massive.

And, for me, its something that should change the more players come and acclimate.

For a long time, a good while back admittedly, Italian players just couldnt seem to work over here. Then Zola, Vialli, DiMatteo came over and broke the mould. Similarly Spanish, was a long time before Spanish players could be considered a real success here (Herrera at Bolton the first to my memory!). And, of course, thats history now.

Its because of that I wouldnt reject a player on nationality. If we were linked to a Ukranian play this January - for sure I would have concerns about how he settles - but I would certainly back his signing still if he looks a good player.
Not disagreeing with your other points, but as far as Spanish and Italian players are concerned, could it be that they couldn't seem to work in England because the best Spanish and Italian players stayed in Spain and Italy? It's only in the last 20 years or so that some of the best have been plying their trade outside their home countries.

Its possible, for me though its more a case of a clash of styles.

For a long time LaLiga and Serie A, while technically strong, were physically weaker leagues, much slower paced and tactical.

The Premiership, 90 minutes of blood and thunder, is a big shock to those unused to it.

Its still a shock now to many, and its tamer now than it ever has been.

So Id say it was more in line with that, on the pitch. Off the pitch, well - imagine being stuck up north somewhere when you are used to the costa del sol!

We should be “russian” to be first in helping Soviet players feel fully acclimatized in the Prem...coat? why yes please...

I was pretty impressed with Diop.

I would go all in for him. When I watched French football on a sunday evening last season he always impressed me. I think he will be like the dutch lad Liverpool brought from Southampton last year, he would improve any team and certainly ours, fast and can play out from the back.

Would West Ham sell to us? doubt it but if we could get 25m for toby and find another 40m from somewhere then maybe we could convince them and he would be an excellent fit in a Poch style team for years.

The player can make that move happen if we did bid
I think united will be after him
He was held in very high regard last year so his standing is just getting higher and higher

Sancho scored 2 for Dortmund this weekend.

At 18 years and 216 days, Sancho is the second youngest foreigner to score twice in a German top-flight game. Only Son Heung-min, now at Tottenham, was younger (18 years, 135 days) - in Hamburg's 3-2 defeat at Hannover on 20 November 2010.

He has now scored four times in his past three games and had a hand in a goal every 52 minutes this season - five goals and eight assists.

To think we could have got him as part of the Walker deal.

Could we?

We really should have forced that one through even if it meant taking a £10m drop on the Walker fee

Maxi Gomes has started this season amazingly well, I was talking about him last year. Scoring again out in Spain and getting assists, think he could play behind Kane or in place of him.

For the lazy, he is a bit like a strong physical striker but with good feet skills, plays for Uruguay and I am guessing his transfer value is going up all the time.
