Transfer thread

Think it’s just over £600k (!) if paid as a regular wage. However, 25% of his salary is for Image Rights, we could maybe increase this and pay it to a third party company abroad and reduce the overall total to maybe £450k (according to chat GPT).

Still a lot. PSR would be fine though.

The other players agents would still be aware of that.

So how's everyone feeling about our progress towards the season kick off with the size and shape of the squad?

As we stand, without youngsters our current squad is

Kinsky, Vic, Dubravka, Austin
Porro, Spence
Udogie, Robbo, Davies, Souza
Romero, Danso, JPvH, VDV, Senesi, Phillips, Takai
Tonali, Fernandes, Bents, Gray, Bergval, Sarr, Gallagher,
Kudus, Kulu, Tel, Moore, Odobert, Madds, Simons, Solomon, Yang
Solanke, Richi, Scarlett

It feels to me like we're a little behind the curve of where we wanted to be with departures with 28 days to go. With a couple of new signings the squad will be up at 40 players. 4 or 5 youngster loans and 2 clear injuries will bring that down to 33/34 players. It still needs a decent haircut,

In cricket terms, the score is still gettable but the run rate is sneaking up. We can't leave it too long before we hit some more boundaries.

I would imagine we have still got a lot to get rid of and that will happen in the next week or 2. We still have a bit of value in some players as well so we could earn a fair but of our outgoings back.

I think these players are definitely leaving this window

Vic
Romero
Phillips
Souza
Takai (loan?)
Sarr
Moore (loan)
Solomon
Yang
Richie
Scarlett

That takes us to 25 with Kulu not being fully fit for atleast another 2 or 3 months and Odobert and Xavi out for long periods.

We were aggressive early on and playing beautiful strokes. But Bazball has deserted us recently with the departures of Stokes and McCullum. The conditions have changed and the bowlers are on top, we’re stuck in our wicket blocking and leaving. You’re right the run rate is ticking up and it feels like we’re looking for bomba boundaries which is difficult on a pitch that’s starting to break up. Thankfully we still have wickets in hand, I.e. time left in the market.

But we need to change our strategy. Quick singles, particularly in outgoings to keep the scoreboard ticking over. It’s not ideal but we seem to be doing that with Romero by accepting less than his value. We need to do similar with other players even if it means loans with options or obligations. I believe just this weekend in a presser De Zerbi said something about wanting a small squad, possibly another message to upstairs about get moving on outgoings?

I think we’ll see up to 7 leave. Vic, Romero, Souza, 2 midfielders, Solomon, a striker and 2 attackers incoming. Then usual loans for prospects. Quite a bit to do actually. So we need to move through the gears from test cricket, to one day 50 over, to T20 and then hopefully The 100 towards the end of the window.

Apparently we've also made a bid for Schjelderup at Benfica. I would love to have him at Spurs, but I'm biased. But it would be cool if we could have our Norwegian baby face assassin!

So 9 players out permanently in 4 weeks, plus a couple of loans for the 1st team younger players. Then you have the loans of the younger players not yet named in the main squad.

On average, that is a player movement every 2 days until the end of the month.

Gonna be fun.
