55 million British pounds for Romero is dreamworld imv - will be around 30m euros. Richy will be around 15m
Are you joking? He has a big reputation in Europe and is highly rated. Even neutral fans in this country think he is rash in the challenge but too good for us. He is a world cup winner, one of Argentina’s top players and Messi came out only a year ago and rated him the best CB in the world. £55m would be cheap in todays world for someone with the profile he has. He was made for Spanish football, the only way he goes for anything less than £60m is if he is in the last year of his contract.

Who is spending that sort of wedge on the continent?

Madrid, Athletico. Madrid haven’t spent any significant money for years they must have money burning a hole in their pockets. Other than the Bellingham fee Madrid haven’t spent Chelsea money in a long time and buy 1 big signing per season. Bellingham being £100m, Endrick being £40m, Tchuomeni(sp) was £80m but take into consideration the money they got for sales, the last 5 years they have pretty much been in the green. Add to that Champions League wins, League wins etc they have plenty of cash to spend.

Athletico seem to be opening the purse wider nowadays aswell.

Then Romero stays with us if £25m is the best offer.

Think we get Atleti, Real, PsG, Bayern all over us if we signal availability and the sum will be double what you suggest.

I’m good either way tbh.

It will depend if we have any European games next season or not.

But I have seen some reports that we would consider offers for Porro (about £50m+)

If we don't have any European football, wouldn't be a bad bit of business. Keep Spence and Udogie and get someone young in who can cover both (or Spence continues to cover both)

Good analysis.
Winning the EL or not will effect the budget (+30/40m if we do) and also squad requirements.

You just don't need as bigger squad with no Europe.

The sad thing is that getting the CL £30-40m is only about £20m incremental because of our league finishing position. That's £2m a place now that we've lost. Then you add up the missing home game stadium income and it's probably nearer a £50m hole to cover.

£3m a place according to last season's pay outs.

It's definitely a big swing in income if we don't succeed in the EL. It'll be £30m for winning it plus £££'s locked in just for taking part in the CL next year.

I think the best we can hope for is 13th.
ie best of the brick :)

Let's hope the Saudi Pro League suddenly want a load of our players.

In fact, maybe we could give them Ange and get Ange to buy them all from us?

Have you not seen the sub-plot?

Farke fired by Leicester
Rodgers to Leeds
Ange back to Celtic
???? to Spurs

Last year, we finished 5th but had no European football and no cup runs. I suspect the money from our runs in the Europa league and league cup will make up much of the lost prize money revenue from the much lower PL finish.

I would sell Porro and promote spence to first choice. Then bring back Cirkin 5m, and Walker-Peters free. Use the money left over combined with whatever we get for injury prone Romero to go sign to quality centre halves. Then with the young lads coming through we would be sorted for a good few years.

The would be a drop off in quality for the reserve full backs but we can spend a year or so scouting the up and coming full backs while spence and udogie are first choice.

I'd really like Delap, Guehi and Wharton. I doubt Palace would sell both and they'd likely cost a lot and a fair chance both will have better offers anyway. I think Wharton has been injured a bit so we'd need to be confident it's nothing that may affect him long term.

Bonus would be all 3 have PL experience and should settle in easily, maybe Delap could be convinced by McKenna that we'd be a good destination.

I guess it depends whether we spent ahead of getting the revenues. That money might be gone and we might end up budgeting for 40-45 games after a 16th place finish. The one thing we can be confident on is that our club won't take unnecessary risks financially. Nor should they.

If we don't win the EL, then it might help us to make some courageous decisions on the squad in a mini-rebuild. I think it was #Raziel that come to about £130m of player sales a couple of days back. If we double down on the core 17 or 18 there is plenty of scope for improvement with a couple of key additions.

Evjen from Bodø Glimt. Better than Maddison, never hides, tackles like an old school defender, runs more than anyone without getting tired, has a great long range shot, incredible close control and scores and assist. A pretty much complete midfielder.
