Transfer speculation

I genuinely feel sorry for Coutinho...I would hate it if Barca came in for Eriksen but the lad has been amazing for us and been honest in the past about how he would feel to move there...

As long as they paid that sort of money then Eriksen would go with a thank you and best wishes from me...even though losing him would be a massive blow.

Liverpool are just hurting themselves and causing squad disharmony...we had to accept bale leaving for less and coutinho is nowhere near as good.

What about losing Eriksen with 13 days to go in the window? Spending £120m quickly isn't easy if you didn't see the deal coming - at least the Coutinho one has been in the offing for a few weeks so they should have beenable to plan for it

Liverpool don't have time to buy players due to the knock on affect. If i was them id be on the phone to Chelsea and costa to see if there is any movement. I think they could play firminho behind him.

I was more responding to the view that we might sell Eriksen if a £120m offer came in from Barca tomorrow - at least Liverpool should have foreseen this Coutinho situation coming given its been in the papers for weeks!!! I'm obviously not a football scout but if Draxler is available for £35m then one option is to bring in the creativity lost from selling Coutinho and then spending the rest on fixing some of their weaknesses (e.g. CB, full back). Sell Sakho for £30m to West Brom as rumoured - that almost pays for Draxler and then sign, say, Van Dijk and Sessengnon. Whatever, they should have had time to formulate a plan for what they would do.

Maybe their owners bought into the hype of how mega untouchable Liverpool are from RAWK

The one player we must keep imho is Eriksen!
Worth the best part of £150m imho to us.

Didn't say I'd like it and I wonder how he would feel being second choice and yes would need to be 130m upwards. 13 days ain't great but still enough time to overpay slightly for a replacement...

Don't get me wrong don't want that lad to leave at all...just saying that price is more than generous for coutinho and far too good to turn down.

Liverpools board are truly brain dead to reject that sort of money for him.

They are also hurting their prospects of signing future young talent by acting this way...

People said the exact same things about us when we rejected 40m for Modric, and 50/60/70m for Bale.

We still ended up signing young talent - no one seemed particularly fussed about the fact that we refused to sell those two when the first bids came in.

I get where you're coming from, mate, but that's just a regurgitated line that people throw out there when the 'smaller' club in a transfer saga refuses bids. It happened to us, too. It didn't harm us when we kept Modric for a year - it won't harm Liverpool if they do the same.

Ditto Soton (on a smaller scale) - people said the same sorts of things when they refused to sell Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin to us in 2014, but they still went on to sign Wanyama, Van Dijk, Gabbiadini, Redmond....they still do alright on that front. Usually, it's the fans of the big clubs whining about smaller clubs refusing their offers that come out with that line, and it's always grated with me. Just a nitpick. ;)

It would take us out of the title hunt this season and maybe the top 4 too IMO. I think it would be an epic mistake to sell Eriksen now (or ever ) irrespective of the price.

If he started seriously agitating for a move or downed tools that is different story. Then it might become a matter of price. Thankfully we are not in the situation, and neither are Liverpool yet incidentally.

Well I might be wrong but I must be some sort of messiah if I can get Dubai and stevie h to agree on something.

I know losing Eriksen would be catastrophic but.....

Oh feck it shoulda kept me trap shut!

I hope they stay obstinate.
I can't see even Liverpool totally wasting all that money if they accept the bid. Two or three very good players could find their way into Anfield and it'd be more troubling to face Liverpool after that than with Coutinho staying.
