Transfer speculation

Poch said a few months ago that Siggy was a perfect player for us, didn't he?
Or something very similar.
Maybe a loan for Onomah to Wales is in the offing to prepare the ground.

Its all a game of opinions. Certainly he is better than Mirallas and other attacking midfielders but he is 28 and you are therefore not gonna recoup much of whatever you spend on him.

Unless he is a critical factor in winning competitions/finishing higher in the league and so brings about the recouping through the achievement of the team and prize money won.

I think we were playing them the next day and he was just being polite. Siggy didn't work in our system because he struggle against defences that sat deep and didn't give us any room, hence why he is much better at a mid-table side who are afforded more space.

I think this will be a big season for Onomah. Winks and him will have plenty of opportunities to cover/push 75-minutes-a-week max Dembele

How much did we sell Siggurdsson for?

We swapped him for Davies and Vorm.

IIRC the fees were c.£8m Siggy vs c.£7.5m Davies and c.£0.5m Vorm. The Davies/Vorm balance was set like that because Vorm had a big sell-on clause. Utrecht took Swansea to court over it (but lost)

Outside of set pieces he is fairly ineffective tbf

That's it. He's 10% off being good enough. He's an almost player for us. All being equal and if it was just about talent and potential, I'd take Barkley over him everyday. Barkley has more drive, more raw ability (which may or may not develop). Siggy has probably played his best football for the Swans. On his day he can be sensational...but that's once every 10 games and he wouldn't hold a place in the side.

He'd be brilliant if you could bring players on and off unlimited times. Bring him on for set pieces, then take him off :)

Out of his 42 goals in his Swansea career seven have been free kicks. Not sure where this just scoring from set pieces has came from, I remember him scoring enough goals for us that werent free kicks....

Thats subjective, personally i think they have spend all that money and will still finish 7th.

Thought Kolasinac is a CB playing at LB so good backwards but bad forwards - this is how he has been described every time I have heard him being discussed, would say that is not so good in our system.
He can play as a centre half as he is tall enough and quite physical, but also as a wide left midfielder.
