Transfer rumours - summer 2021 edition

Winger and Keeper that look done are not really needed . That’s the thing that concerns me. I want to see the positions where we having problem I.e CB addressed early.

Lots of weak links as you say to CMs not much surrounding striker. Again key areas.

Three weeks till season starts .

I'd rather see us get the right CBs than bring in average CB's early.

So far it seems we have targetted three very good CBs in Romero, Kuende and Lacroix as well as being kept in the loop on Milenkovic at Fiorentina. Any two of those four would be brilliant signings for us.

Agreed . But Kuende is not interested in us by quite a few reports. There has been few bits from Italian media saying Romero is staying in Italy.

So linked yes but no closer to a CB .

Looking at the players we haven’t even had starting training yet I’m not bothered when we sign players
Ones joining aged the olympics will be match fit for example, just won’t be coached for the team yet
It’s another weird summer after another tournament
I’d rather we get the right players we need in the right positions rather than the wrong players quickly
It’s 3 weeks until the season starts for every team and there really hasn’t been that many first team signings made by anyone

I agree that a CB or two are top of the list, and maybe a RB too...but transfers don't usually play out in a nice prioritised list.

Looks like a half-decent GK may have landed in our lap. Loan deal and a good price if he plays - understudy if Lloris stays, or great option so we're not screwed if our captain decides to leave.

And while I don't think any of us prioritised a LW, Gil could be absolutely superb. While I have reservations about his variety, he seems to be able to beat his man with ease then put in a good cross. Also likes a good one-two. We'd be stupid to pass up the chance, unless the spend means we couldn't afford the aforementioned defenders.

I'm starting to wonder whether Nuno has a 4-4-2 or 5-3-2 up his sleeve. I do miss a good old-fashioned strike partnership. Kane and Sonny up front with Gil jinking his way down the left? Could be delicious.

Love the optimism. Son for me is not and has never been a striker . I don’t want to see him in a two. As for Gil one for the future more than a first team starter I think.

We will see but at this present time I’m not to optimistic.

Yes a lot of teams have not got targets yet. Another concern is the Kane circus has not started yet.

Also other sides are in far better shape than us. We need a big clear out and some new faces.

As for players we’ve yet to see in pre season apart from Kane and PEH who’s an instant starter ? Lo Celso and Tanguy are still a concern. Both talented but neither has turned up for more than a handful of games over last two seasons.

We will be starting with the same old junk in the side against City I have no doubt.

Lo Celso and PEH both seem to have managed to unlock a few levels of performance over the summer tournaments.
Rodon and Toby too. A bore draw would be possible and a great result.

Could be argued we haven’t seen any of our defence or midfield yet in pre season

I mean the defence next season could (won’t) be Hugo, Doherty, Toby, Rodon, reggie, and midfield could be PEH, Lo Celso, Hojdjberg
None of them have been involved pre season so far

And Kane up top, so 9 of the potential/probable 11 (if no signings).

We do need a keeper, Hugo is in the last year of his contact and doesnt seem like he wants to sign a new one

This gives his potential replacement a year to settle and we can judge if he is good enough

I would not be shocked if he ended the season as number 1

To me it looked like 4-2-3-1 yesterday. But the 3 were very flexible. Alli would drop back into deep midfield and attack the box too. Talk of formations is silly in some ways as some players are given free reign or it chances on the match situation. But wouldn't be surprised if we try this base setup with say Hojberj and Skipp the two holding midfielders. With Son + two from Moura, Gil, Bergjwin, Ndombele, making up the 3. The three are always very flexible able to attack and defend.

Heh, fair point. 30 years of supporting Spurs somehow still hasn't beaten it all out of me!

I also had half a mind on the links with Ings. I can't see him signing to sit on the bench waiting for Kane to get injured.
