Of course they can, the money generated from having Messi at the club pays for Messi's wages.

Not heard any rumours that we're after him, but If I were to pick one player I'd want in our midfield, it would be Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

My understanding is that he isn't the most physical, though - and the problem with buying from Gladbach is, there is a small window that will rapidly close.
They've got a host of players they either need to shift, or that will likely leave - Ginter and Elvedi (CBs), Zakaria (CDM), Plea (ST) and Thuram (also ST).
At some stage, they might decide that it's enough of an exodus and just refuse to sell.
That's why, if we want Gladbach players, we need to be talking to them *now* - not in a month.

Maybe they used to but they just had to take a loan out to pay outstanding wages and bonuses, they are completely skint - that's why they let Suarez leave for 5m or something, they needed him off the wage bill.

I actually think there will be business this summer in a certain price bracket
- a lot of our deadwood would fall in that £10M-£25M range, Levy might have to take payment over time vs. cash up front but this could be the busy end of market
- £40M+ I don't see a lot of happening outside of the superstar deals.
