Transfer rumours - summer 2021 edition

Gladbach are in a difficult situation, tbh. Zakaria will likely also leave, and there are admiring glances around Thuram and Neuhaus. They really needed to get CL this season to avoid that rebuild, but Marco Rose being poached by Dortmund has sent them into a deadly tailspin.

Shouldn't affect us, though - if Levy had balls, he'd be on the plane out there now negotiating for any two of Ginter, Elvedi and Zakaria - *before* they get pillaged and then refuse to sell anymore.

We had that chance in 2014 when Poch joined - we could have bought both Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin, who would have been perfect for Poch's system, having already excelled at Soton. Soton were willing to sell, having made promises to both players that they could leave - we fudged around for half the summer and refused to pay what Soton wanted, until eventually they had enough of being pillaged and just said 'no more sales'.

Levy will never learn, though. These are the deals the market offers if you're quick - quick is something Levy has rarely, if ever, been.
I’m prepared to wait and see what happens this summer. Maybe Levy will operate differently? I hope we don’t end up with a Berbatov type situation with Kane’s sale. A Bale situation would be much better (just with hopefully more hits than misses with the money spent this time).

Would rarely be - how many details of transfers, even fees, are actually reported by the clubs involved? However given how widely reported it was, I think its pretty likely that its true. Clearly the player would need to agree but if he's had a happy season there, but previously crap years in England, I cant see why he'd object, unless we offered him more £££, which I doubt we would
I think it was just some bod on twitter, then everybody copied.

I guess we don't know how settled he was in London, especially with our argentine contingent, where his misses is from etc

Daka looks to me like he could make the step up. My wish is that we would go after both him and Abdallah Sima from Slavia Prague if Kane leaves. We’d probably need to accept a transitionary season though. Another good option would be Alex Isak at Sociedad.
Isak has had enough lives now to understand what it takes
I still think Silva would be good for a prem side if they can do a deal with Frankfurt
And my favourite still is Wout Weghorst who has carried in scoring and assisting

This was my full list of potentials if Kane left....

Alex Isak (21) (Real Sociedad)
Patson Daka (22) (Red Bull Salzburg)
Lautaro Martinez (23) (Inter Milan)
Abdallah Sima (19) (Slavia Prague)
Danny Ings (28) (Southampton)
Wout Weghorst (28) (Wolfsberg)
Mousa Dembele (24) (Lyon)
Patrick Bamford (27) (Leeds)
Andre Silva (25) (Frankfurt)
Sasa Kalakdzic (23) (Stuttgart)
Luka Jovic (23) (Real Madrid)

Some are more second strikers though. In any event I think we need two from this list if Kane goes.

Mate, please pick better examples, both Rodriquez and Schneiderlin were bullets dodged.

I don't think either of these were bad players, but poch found a system that worked for them at Southampton.
Rumours abounded we would snap up Rodriguez and play him in the same system and reap the benefits.
Turns out poch was better than that and built a system around the players we had.
Problem for these two was that the teams they went too didn't play to their strengths.
It's like Doherty with us, not a bad player, just not in the right system.

I think getting in two to replace him and a right winger would be beneficial
Weghorst would be a real success here IMO. Fox in the box and 6’6
Daka off him with his pace would be possibly Immense if they can click

Ollie Watkins. Should have got him in last summer instead of Vinicius to begin the transition.
I wanted us to get him last summer.... Too late now.

Toney is doing equally as well for Brentford as Watkins did... I called him out as a backup striker option while he was still at Peterborough. He was exactly the type of player we could’ve got in for Jose that January when we had no fit strikers if we actually had a semi effective scouting department.

That's not levy's style. I think the transfer committee of dof is there to make independent decisions to cope with manager turnover
That's exactly what I was thinking, isn't it risky to buy players without having a manager in situ to agree that x or y player is what he is seeking? If we want Levy to give full backing to his new manager, then he has to wait for the manager to be appointed? Put out feelers, have some talks where permitted, but I don't think he can agree anything without the manager in place.
Plus players might want to know who they will be managed by.

I dont know some of the name above, but we need to go back to signing players who are 24 and under and grow a team. FOr the Kane money, we could get 3 darn good players who are semi proven in a big league and of that profile

On the bright side. It will definitely be a refreshing change to be looking for a striker who won’t be “playing second fiddle to Kane”TM :)

Hannnnng on, you're telling me that we could *gasp* stop acting like we possibly couldn't have TWO good strikers at the same time?

Even if Kane does stay, I want us to sign another fudging striker, it's been absolutely absurd from the club for years now.

Mate, it's not the club, it's the strikers

- Agents have outright said for years, no good striker wants to come to Spurs because they won't get enough playing time.
