Transfer Rumour Bolleaux

Ah, I see you are back, well I have been waiting for you at: http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/community/threads/victor-wanyama.8496/page-8

Specifically page 8 on the Wanyama thread. Remember how all through the summer transfer window when you said he was mediocre, not good enough for Spurs and would never be more than back up to Dier, well I just wondered if you have changed your mind about him or do you still think Wanyama is not good enough? I encourage you to respond in the Wanyama thread.

He's done well while Dier is getting over his Euro fatigue. But the two still can't play together and Dier-Dembele would still be my cup final team

This was how I got to £15m:

Sissoko £30m
Janssen £17m
Wanyama £11m
Nokoudou £9m
= £67m

Mason £13m
Chadli £13m
Townsend £12m
Pritchard £8m
Yedlin £5m
Ward £0.5m
Ball nominal
= £51.5m

= £15.5m net

Where are those figures from?

Edit: see Townsend is included above which he isn't on transfermarkt - that makes a difference tbf

Dier's fatigue is irrelevant, what is relevant is that your opinion of Wanyama was simply ridiculous. Dude everybody gets things wrong occasionally, in the summer of 2014 I thought Kane did not not have a long term future with Spurs, but you my man are developing a long list of "crazy WTF" statements about manager and players

I presume "mediocre" no longer applies to Wanyama :)

If the 4 loans with a view to permanents (Bentaleb, Njie, Fazio and Lopez) go through, our £15m net spend from the summer turns into a £5m net profit

That's true, but, as previously detailed, my point was never that going into the red was by itself the best thing to do, all the time - by all means, once the manager gets who he wants, agree a plan to recoup the amount spent from other sources; in this case, it's the loans being converted into permanent outgoing deals. But don't prioritise neutral or positive net spend (or players with higher resale value over first-choice targets) over getting the manager who he wants - that's an ass-backwards way of going about it if you're serious about backing him, imo.

From that perspective, Sissoko was a welcome change, a sign of Levy going in hard, net spend at the end of the window be damned - the fact that we might still end up in profit is even better (although that's still uncertain - what if the clubs don't take up their options to buy?).

I think that the summer gone we just saw the benefit of our prudence in previous windows.

I'll give it some time before arriving at that conclusion, given that our profits over previous windows still dwarf our outlay here, tbh.

I don't know how Isco's contract situation is, but if Poch wants him I think Levy will back him if we can get him for around €20-25m. Don't think we'll spend more than that.

Didnt Marcus Edwards sign another pro contract recently?

Just that makes him a MarkE signing right, right?

He's still fairly young, around 24? I think he's command a fee that's higher than what is Levy is typically prepared to pay. I'm sure Chelsea will enter the fray, or even City, just to drive the price up or hinder us, especially if City view us a real threat. Just my opinion.
