***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Wolves OMT***

He was pretty good i thought
He was, and we were better for the three in thr middle having more shape.

At the end of the day I'm not going to get too high or low on this side this season including today, as I said before the better side one, Ange is going to learn about the players now in this adversity and I don't think in a strange way its a bad thing leading into Jan for him to do that especially as the start is way ahead of the curve and expectations.

A week ago we were record breaking points monsters and I know the landscapes changed but its ridiculous for anyone to be so high then so low this early into the Ange revolution for there to be that big a meltdown.

Well this week will have given certain posters a dose of reality, there were quite a few genuinely claiming we could challenge for the title which was utterly ridiculous. Seemingly thinking no Europe meant that injuries and suspensions were hardly going to occur, which was never going to be the case with Ange playing the same starting eleven whenever he could (no criticism for doing so) and the agressive nature of our play.

We are simply going through a period averaging out to where we truly belong, which is challenging around the top 4. Ange is the right guy to take us forward, but we are nowhere near challenging the very top yet....
In some respects its a good thing. The title challenge narrative has clearly dissipated and now we can focus on our actual targets. Top 4 is possible if we can reconfigure the system with the players we now have available but its gonna be a fight to do it. Top 6 which was my actual target for this season is very possible and i'd say likely.

Don't talk gonad*s

I think Maddison and VDV out for 3 months is going to be massive. Once they get back it will be fine, but until then I see us really struggling. Maybe 8th-10th is harsh, but I honestly do not see us being in a Top 6 position come May. Maybe, just maybe 7th or 8th

Lol I knew you'd chirp up with an i told you so post sooner or later but didn't expect it to be so soon. We went down to 9 men against Chelsea and have lost 3/4s of our defence and creative playmaker as a result of that game, most of the posts talking up our prospects this season did so with the caveat that we have a thin squad and needed good luck with injuries/suspensions, so don't really see the grounds for this post.

Give him his players and I doubt he would lose that game. The tools we handed over to him were responsible. There is no way Ange would look at a Dier or Hojberg or Emerson and decide to buy them
We didn’t manage that game well at all. I know he’s got injuries and a much weakened side but Ange’s style always risks stuff like this.

That’s the trade off. There is no perfect way to play football. Ange’s style has its shortcomings but I’d much rather have him than anyone else.

As much as there is a few things I want to moan about, actually just giving Wolves some credit isn't a bad idea for now even if people don't want to hear it.

Their first was glorious, they stopped us having a shot on target for about 85 minutes of football and worked to get the 2nd at a point where we fell asleep. Sure it wasn't our strongest team and we had a makeshift defence (that actually did very well for the most part) but fair play to Wolves.

Also kudos to Porro, brilliant to watch again today. He's rapidly becoming my favorite player after initially pretty much writing him off. 10 of him with Vic in goal would be a nightmare to play against.

Can't really argue with wolves winning, only wish we could we could get away with some of these 50/50 decisions teams get against us.

Through no real fault of Ange that felt like a Mourinho or Conte game and was very unpleasant to watch. Not even sure Dier and Davies were dropping the line that much, like to see a stat on that if there's even an average offside trap line or whatever. Whatever the case there are better ways to spend a Saturday afternoon than on tenderhooks watching your team invite pressure with no way out.

Lo Celso and Gil were not the problem. Both looked quite accomplished at keeping the ball so should fit in okay (if not brilliantly) with Ange. I'm more worried about the lack of edge they are going to provide as neither have been even semi prolific in their Spurs careers.

I also am fine with his style. At about 30 mins, it was clear that some players hadnt bought into it and that continued into the second half.

Now for me, the goals we conceded were based on silly decision making by players. That is not a tactical issue. That is down to player selection. His hands are tied by the players at Spurs.

New season but somethings haven’t changed unfortunately. Completely unacceptable go ho from winning 1-0 to losing inside last 7 minutes.

Nothing wrong with the system, it's bad fitting players and we can sort that.

Made worse by Romero being a child on Monday.

You are literally making excuses when the reality is these things happen to all teams in a season. We had the same luck against Liverpool but then it was 'Oh wel, you win some you lose some' now we are getting the same back. There were literally people saying we could win the league which was always an absolute non starter. We was always going to get injuries so it's a pretty pointless caveat, and the idea that Romero had suddenly turned into an Angel and that suspensions would be at a minimum is pretty dreamy too. I'm happy with Ange and the way we are playing, but some people were getting way ahead of themselves.....

Lets be realistic though, there was no way we were ever going to go through the entire season with no injuries or serious suspensions. So I disagree with you, hes perfectly entitled to essential say 'I told you so,' because he was right. The injuries would come as would the suspensions.

On the second, should Emerson be tinkling about? He’s looking for a killer pass to win the game rather than thinking, “momentum is against us here, play it safe.” Dier is looking to catch the lad offside. Again, it’s sort of a brave way of playing but he’s done it at completely the wrong time in the wrong situation.

I’m not condemning Ange or even really having a go. I love the guy. But his style and mindset are risky and when you take those risks, especially with some of the lads playing today, there’s a good chance of being found out.

We all, me included, want front foot attacking football. That’s fine but it does come with risks and they played a part in costing us today.

All 3 subs made positive impacts. The problem was that had conceded possession and momentum so much for the 75 minutes previously, we just couldn't turn that tanker around
