*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Le Saudi Sportswashing Machine - Official Match Thread ***

This will be a seriously hard game. We can of course win with our players, but they have a lot of very good ones coming back in time to play us so it will be very tough. A draw wouldn't surprise me at all.

I hope they come to WHL and try and attack us. They did the same thing last season and we tore them a new one.

they wont, they will sit back and then bomb us on the break. They now have some pace and power in attack and if they play as well on Sat as they did against chelsea then we have a fight on our hands

I agree.

It's well known that we are at our best when allowed to counter attack and that we struggle against teams that sit back. Pardieu will have learned his lesson from last season.

I agree that it will most likely be tough.

I fancy us to win this one, although it won't be quite as comfortable as last season's 5-0 stroll in the park.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Nouveau Château Unie

Actually having thought about it i want either Holtby or Sig starting behind Ade.....didn't know Dempsey had international duty midweek.

------------------------Lloris----------------------
Walker------Dawson-------Verthongen---------BAE
-----------------Parker--Dembele-----------------
Lennon--------------Holtby-------------------Bale
-------------------Adebayor----------------------

Think it's going to be though, but we'll sneak it by one goal i recon.

I'm loving that team.

Holtby deserves a start imo.

This would be my team as well as Dempsey has got a busy week.....

Defoe was certainly very good at the start of the season and although I think he gets more credit than he deserves from commentators for being clinical in front of goal his game had improved. However, the goals have dried up recently and he is not really a lone striker type of player and is more suited to playing off someone like Crouch. For that reason his injury, which i still hope is not too serious, will allow Ade to come straight back into the team, feel loved and hopefully play to his ability.

If Ade was to play every game for the rest of the season and get 8/10 each time I think we would get 3rd and possibly even 2nd. We have no problem creating chances and putting teams under pressure but all too often have lacked the final bit of magic in the box.

COYS.....please.

Defoe was due to break down a bit. He's like a high-revving, turbo-charged 1.4 litre motor when the lone striker position really calls for a bigger engine block, something with a bit more torque and reliability.

As for Dempsey, wish him well in the Hex. Those 10 games to get to the World Cup will be very demanding. CONCACAF can be football's badlands, a wild and lawless place in many countries. Some very nasty environments for visiting teams. Hopefully he'll be a stronger player for it. If I were picking the American side, I'd go 4-5-1 with Jozy Altidore up front. Big beast of a boy, good wheels, scoring for fun in Holland and well suited to the examination of manhood the Honduran back line will deliver.

But even if Dempsey doesn't play, just the travel will affect him. Probably best to plan on having him as a late sub. Really hope Ade's up to the task.

Ok having thought about it carefully again... I think the best combination for this one is Sigurdsson playing off Adebayor. I would start Holtby in an away game because of this excellent work rate (probs against spammers) but I have a feeling sig and Ade will cause maximum damage.

No, the toons midfield is too strong, this game is made for holtby.

No, Sissoko is strong and he'll be playing in an advanced position. Tiote is of course strong too but i don't think Pardew will drop Pearch who is part of a winning team for 2 weeks..so Pearch, Cabaye and Sissoko in the middle isn't stronger than Parker,Dembele and Sig imo (besides i'm not sure if Holtby is stronger than Sig anyway).

Holtby looks a lot stronger and more physical than Siggy who actually looks very lightweight

I didnt realise how solid Holtby was until he had an interview next to Bale yesterday, he is built like a brick brickhouse

i know its still early but Holtby looks the real deal, he is a toughie too, siggy will get his chance but not in this game, imo of course.

Holtby is tenacious..that doesn't mean he's strong. He runs a lot and puts tackles in but i haven't seen him enough to judge whether he's strong or not. Sig isn't weak at all btw.
