And to be clear I don't think they are all brick. we have one or two who frankly awful. I've spoken about them so often I won't repeat. As a squad its broadly average but its also lacking in balance which brings that average potential down. If we want to play progressive passing football where is the passing 8? We don't have a single one of quality in the squad. No one who has passing quality, passing vision and passing execution as their speciality. Not ONE. How is this team supposed to control a game and pass through the zones?

Where is the left side attacker? Today we played Muani there, and he had a decent game but c'mon anyone with eyes can see playing out on the left doesn't suit him at all and is just a waste of the player. Tel, Odobert, Johnson, Richy all of the other options for the left are meh, on their day we migth get something but typically we get fudge all. These are not players that if we saw playing at another club we would be interested in. So why are lying to ourselves now? Because they play for Spurs already? I get the idea of supporting your players but lets not lie to ourselves.

So yes I think this squad is meh, its a top 10 squad for me which if we had a Messiah manager in the Poch mode might get a top 6 finish but for me to expect that or better i'd consider myself deluded. This squad and starting 11 especially considering we don't actually have a complete 11 is just average at best.

I guess we'll see, i was underwhelmed by him at Leicester also. Hes an ok player imo but as a playmaker I just don't think hes top echelon.

Ange signed maddison, he actually talked maddison into joining if I recall correctly, why would he sign someone that doesn't fit the role?

Equally I take 5/6 of Forest over our lads, I think we massively elevate what we have whilst diminishing what others have

We are playing a RB at LB because people have convinced themselves he can do a job, whereas he is actually better than the actual RB who has been targeted for months. Our GK is abysmal now, not sure whats happened but my GHod he is horrific. Richy puts in his twice monthly 2/10 and thats us done in attack. We literally have not had a Left winger of any quality for months now. And thats just for starters

Get Glasner in, happy for it to be the case, but good grief does he need help also if we do

I’d be delighted with top 8! I said 5th to 9th in that pre season poll of expectations.

I think you and seemingly a few other posters are guilty of taking an extreme view by individuals and arguing against that like it’s the commonly held view. Us being good enough for top 4 or Vic better than Raya would be views held by Less than 0.1% of the fan base id guess.
 
Call me sad, but I schedule my life around when Spurs are playing, to be sure I can watch every game.

And I anticipate eagerly what could happen.

So this week I've waited through Weds and Thurs and Fri and Sat and half of Sunday, waiting and anticipating and hoping.

And then The Spurs Giant strode towards my house, pulled down his mighty lilywhite pants and laid a great big steaming stool on my weekend. Again.

I think one thing we need to do is not judge the attack until defence and midfield get their act together. They need supply, and they need runners.

Today Bentancur was poor, Spence was poor, and Porro was poor so three players that should be supporting the attack were awful on the ball and in their movement.

This is why the way we are playing is important and it seems like we went back to keeping shape instead of looking for stuff with the ball. Also, looking to go via the wings nearly every time isn't the solution.

I have us, taking into account how well other sides have been put together and the quality of player at 7th currently. Thats nothing to do with me being ok with that, I literally have no choice but to accept it

I’m heading over for the game next week and I’m fudging dreading the game and wondering if it’s worth the expense and wasted weekend.

Thats not how it should be.

Anderson is the best CM in the league imo
Beyond that they have a lot of decent players who suit their system
Our players are a mix bag too but much better than what we have seen again, I’m sure
I haven’t seen the game but I was pleased with the line up

Going wide against their two centre backs is the most brain dead tactic you can employ.

The only way that works is if you hit them quickly on the counter and get balls into the corridor of uncertainty with their CBs facing their own goal. Otherwise it’s just meat and drink to them. And so it proved.

If you’re getting paid 100k a week or whatever to come up with that as a plan, I suddenly feel grossly underpaid.

On paper he fits the role - like i said originally it was a criticism of the player not being able to adapt to the role, although he performed as well as any other player over the 2 years - no one knows for sure how things will play out when signing a player but Ange bought a lot of players and not many, if any, seemed to work within the context of the tactics given what we saw play out.

I said we have 6th-12th quality players and you said I don’t agree and we should be capitalising on Liverpool being so poor. But ignoring the fact that Liverpool, Arsenal, Emirates Marketing Project, Chelsea and Villa have better squads than us right now.
 
The whole Cm midfield needs an overhaul.

Only ones I would keep is Gray and Berg, not sure I would be paying anywhere near 30 million for Paul

Sarr/Paul/Bent all very average, maybe do one or two things well, but not good enough for top 6.

I live less than an hour away and I've been finding it increasingly hard to rationalise giving up my time over the past 5 years - last season very nearly killed it off.

At least you're only giving up a weekend - trying doing it every week 😂
