*** TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS Carlisle United OMT ***

its an away game and if this is used to bed in players, then I wouldn't mind a 0-0 draw, a clean sheet, and lots of possession play.
we can beat them at the lane, get players real match time, and also help Carlisle with gate revenue. Win-win I say.

Steffen Freund insists there is still a role for club captain Michael Dawson at Tottenham Hotspur as the defender prepares to make his first appearance of the season.

Dawson was handed the captaincy in the summer following Ledley King's retirement, but within weeks he appeared to be on his way out of White Hart Lane.

A reported £9million switch to Queens Park Rangers fell through and Dawson now finds himself as the club's fifth-choice centre-half under Andre Villas-Boas.

However, he is set to start against Carlisle United in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday and assistant boss Freund has challenged Dawson to prove his worth.

"He realises that he is not playing at the moment but things can change in football," Freund said.

"The most important thing is how he reacts and he likes to play for Tottenham.

"When you are a strong club like Tottenham there is a lot of opportunities. Andre said that from the beginning of the season.

"It is difficult for him because he is the captain of the club and he had an offer from QPR.

"We are always positive from that point and we talked about it openly. The players who are playing at Carlisle have to play well because we have a strong squad."

Tom Huddlestone is another player who saw a summer move collapse after failing to join Stoke City on loan and the midfielder is also set to feature against Carlisle.

Freund added: "Of course he has a future here.

"When you have a long-term injury - and I can say that, I had two cruciate ligament surgeries - it takes longer to come back.

"Tom was injured for a long time. Michael Dawson was for a long time injured.

"He is training well every day. To say he has had a long-term injury, he is looking really strong."

Well, can see AVB resting many players for this match, and rightly so. With the all-important match against ManU coming up, there is no point risking first team players against Carlisle. But we cannot be resting all the first team players. We cannot take Carlisle lightly as we are playing away. I think the fringe players like Lloris, Dawson, Hudd etc. should play in this match. But with us facing striker shortage, Defoe should be starting on the bench atleast.

Then we will lose both. Better to put the 1st team out tonight and the stiffs against Man U

Clearly the are expecting our keeper to be coming under a lot of pressure from corners. Look what they've been training.

More worrying look WHO is training.

I think Defoe will be keen to start. When in form they like to play all the time.
Left-back is a tough choice tonight

Lloris
Smith Caulker Dawson ????
Lennon Huddletone Carroll Townsend
Dempsey Defoe

1-3 (Defoe 2,Dempsey)

Long time whithout using my blackberry for a game, will certainly give it a shot though.

sorry, how do you watch the games on your blackberry? Do you have to subscribe to something? I have a BB but never seen any links for games nor realised that you could watch games on them

I'd like to see us rest Lennon and play a kid like Mason or Pritchard instead. Granted it might make us more narrow but if we're going to play strong teams in teh Europa then we need to give players a break at some point. THink Siggy also needs games (not league games) so would play him instead of DEfoe and push Dempsey further forwards

You need to call up your Mobile Provider and request the service - especially if you have an unlimited data plan and BIS.

I am with T-Mobile and have Blackberries for about six years now and have had the football on there no problem. Connect to the TV via USB and hey presto Hi Def football.

for poor folks like me without a BB can i get a radio link that works outside UK? Thanks

edited to add: u can get it from BBC 5live

I haven't heard this much talk about Blackberry since 2008.

Really curious who we end up starting at LB. I am guessing it may be Townsend.
