Not easy to read anything from this match, as Burnley were as poor as they come and the only team more capable of repeatedly losing the ball in dangerous positions than us. Still, good subs albeit 75 minutes too late. Both our goals came from direct play, without the faffing about around the box or the omnipresent poor cross from the wing. Son must stay on the left, he doesn't have the awareness to effectively play up top. He's at his best when he can take on his man around the box for a cross or a shot, not being a Harry Kane wannabe midfielder-wing-striker. That is the only thing left he is or near world class at.
We as a team need to be more direct, create and move the ball into space, make yourself available, not do quick passing Angeball-ish tiki-taka in a rugby huddle hoping for some miracle as we have done the entire mid to end season. That we DO have the players for. Johnson, when he developes some kind of composure can be really good, while the less we see of Bissouma the better. Between 75th and 90th minute the play reminded me of the start of the season, and despite the lack of reasonable opposition as a guideline, hopefully something we can get back to.
