But he came on, made some decent crosses and passed, more than Son and Deki, after 5 mins, groans from people. Not sure it was really reflective of what he really done IMO.

But all good. Game 1 in season, all have things to work on, not just Perisic
 
Pretty pleased by that. Thought we were the better side and our shape and cohesion were very good for such early days. Bissouma was my MoM, crazy that Caicedo will go for five times the price despite doing less. Royale, VdV, Maddison, Udogie also very impressive.
 
Positive performance and a decent result given Brentford are a well setup team and have a track record at home of getting results against the top sides. Still plenty of improvement needed but you can see what we're trying to do, which tbh to see so early is a win in of itself atm

Yeah but its always Brighton isn’t it.

And fair play to them but after even 15 years of enic they should have mastered a setup that means we identified these players.

Especially when they run the club 100% on its own resources. If your gonna do that be damn sure you master every edge. They had enough time to come to that realisation, and do it.
 
I really enjoyed watching us today. New era has dawned this feels like a totally different team to the one of the last 4 years. We do need a Kane replacement though. Someone more clinical than we already have. Not easy to find of course.
 
The positive for me there was that was a really battling performance - one that we didn’t see a lot of last season. Thought Maddison, Bissouma, Udogie and Royale were excellent. Actually think we were the better team, however, bigger teams than will go to Brentford and get nothing.
 
Overall, very positive. Biss and Maddison were excellent others were good. Only the front 3 that disappointed, though they were up against a very well drilled low block.
 
As a work in progress I take that, second half we absolutely smothered them without getting much in terms of chances. But they are one of the most efficient home teams in the league so was a good test.

I'm not gonna get too down on any one player TBH, as I said earlier all players are being asked to do something new after 4 years of being asked something else.

The real plus was Bissouma and Udogie, both looked class. Maddisons quality from set plays was a real plus. Mickey was decent, looked unfazed from the step up and TBF, Sanchez was decent enough.

Plenty to get better but def a base there for us to work.from
 
Decent. All a bit narrow and Kulu really looked lost in the second half -- not sure why Solomon didn't come on for him.

The first 25 minutes of the second half we were absolutely dominant and you could see one of Ange's big points. Keep the ball, keep it moving and the opposition will tire. Shame we didn't have more up front. Think we'll be after a clinical striker before the window closes.

Thought Micky did well having only been at the club for a few days! Vicario overall solid, 2 dodgy moments: the parry, which fell to Damsgaard for a weak attempt and charging off his line towards the end. But I think he'll suit the system well.
 
Lots of positives today. All the new players look a step up from last season although Vicario is going to give me a nervous breakdown.
Bissouma finally playing like he did at Brighton. Bentancur in for Skipp and we have a really strong midfield.

Bentancur probably sorts one of the blanks. Idk who we play at RB. Royal was brilliant, yet I just can't see him having enough to effectively play in midfield. Richarlison is probably the starting forward this season. Too much pressure on him, but its his lack of being ready that irks me most. A combination of lacking confidence, but also being a bit slow to react. Kane's genius was how he read the game and acted quickly, whilst keeping total control. Richarlison waits for the ball.
 
Encouraging overall. Shame we couldn't have capitalised in the second half when we were dominant.
Bissouma was excellent, as were Udogie and Maddison. Lots to be positive about but I really want to feel more confident in Vicario than I did today (early days I know, but GKs don't really have the luxury of time).
Hope Romero is OK for next weekend.
