Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

I don't know how it could work but I would be interested in ideas of how fans could have an input into their clubs.

How about something like a "Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust"?

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

Karren Brady in attention seeking shocker:

Karren Brady has indicated that West Ham would prevent Tottenham Hotspur from sharing the Olympic Stadium with them during Spurs’ season away from White Hart Lane.

Tottenham have announced that they will need to find a temporary home for the 2017-18 season because of delays to their new 58,000-seat stadium, with the Olympic Stadium believed to be on a list of temporary solutions.

However, West Ham have been awarded a 99-year lease by the London Legacy Development Committee to become anchor tenants of the Olympic site from August 2016 and, although Brady admitted it would be possible for another club to play in their new 54,000-seat stadium, she rejected suggestions that the club would agree to any request from Tottenham. Although the final decision rests with the LLDC, any deal would depend on West Ham’s approval.

“In reality they probably could – but only with our permission,” West Ham’s vice-chairman said at the launch of their Club London hospitality packages for the new stadium. “No one has asked us for our permission and, if they did, we would probably say no, depending on who it is – if you get my drift. We are the anchor tenant for the winter matches and nothing else can happen in that time without our permission and our football matches take priority over everything else.”

The chair of the London assembly budget and performance committee, John Biggs, has previously said that a temporary groundshare with Tottenham would be beneficial to the LLDC. Yet the agreement with West Ham means that they have primacy of use and it is understood that they effectively have the power of veto over who uses the stadium.

West Ham have not received an approach and ultimately it is more likely that Tottenham will look elsewhere. Spurs have said that they are looking at “four or five options”. Wembley remains an option, as does stadium:mk, the home of MK Dons.

The Rugby World Cup is set to be held at the Olympic Stadium next year and Brady said that West Ham would not receive any revenue from such events. “If there are events at the stadium we have approved we do not see any of the revenue from that,” she said.

"Although the final decision rests with the LLDC, any deal would depend on West Ham’s approval."

Not that I am that bothered but how do the tenants manage to veto the landlord??

Terms of the lease, I guess. Landlord has to abide by them as much as the tenant.

That said, if we do move out for a year and if the Olympic stadium is our temporary home of choice (both big ifs), then it would be quite wrong if West Ham are able to veto the possibility. The stadium is a publicly owned facility. Spurs fans, by virtue of there being many more of us, will have contributed more to the construction of the stadium than West ham fans. So we should be allowed to use it for the one season that we will need it.

Not to mention that West Ham's veto would deprive the LLDC (a publicly run body) of a much needed £2m. Big **** up by the LLDC if, indeed, West Ham do have the final say.

Maybe Levy can get yet more compensation out of them?!!

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

Few new stadium-related plans released tonight: http://www.tottenhamjournal.co.uk/n...amphitheatre_opposite_spurs_stadium_1_3781481

The final draft of a masterplan to overhaul a huge swathe of Tottenham opposite the proposed new Spurs stadium has been unveiled to residents, including a public square with an amphitheatre surrounded by cafes, bars and restaurants.

Haringey Council’s regeneration plans for the area, known as High Road West, have been on the boil for more than two years but are now at an advanced stage, with a final public consultation launched this week.

The vision includes a new library and enterprise centre to replace ones being demolished, and “clusters” of modern homes alongside a 5,000sq metre public space now dubbed Moselle Square - which would also double as Tottenham Hotspur’s controversial “Wembley Way”-style approach for fans arriving from a revamped White Hart Lane station.

Moselle Square would have space for community events and pop-up screenings, and be a destination in its own right for people to meet and relax, said the council.

The masterplan is based on one of three outline plans put to residents and businesses last year, said to have been the most popular option among those who responded.

It was also the plan that offered the most comprehensive and intensive redevelopment of the area - huge swathes of land including businesses and homes will be demolished.

In their place, some 1,200 new homes, including family houses with gardens and flats and maisonettes with private courtyards, are proposed, alongside a new park running north-south (roughly in line with the High Road junctions with Brantwood Road and Northumberland Park) in the heart of a completely new residential quarter, including children’s play space an outdoor gym.

White Hart Lane station’s entrance will also be relocated to the south to link up with Moselle Square. A number of purpose-built industrial units will offer space for start-up businesses to grow, and “a better mix of shops” on the High Road are also promised.

The masterplan covers a huge 11 hectares, stretching between Tottenham High Road to the east and White Hart Lane station to the west.

That statement is contradictory. Either the final decision rests with the LLDC, or any deal would depend on West Ham's approval. Either the LLDC has the final say or West Ham does. It can't be both. All she's saying is, if Tottenham move in, West Ham will kick up a fuss. Weasel words.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

The new proposals and visuals will start to heap pressure on archway. This is where social media and the press needs to come in and highlight what really archway is opposing to - the regeneration of a much wider area. All the other guys have accepted what makes Archway so special? Feels perfect for an episode of BBC panorama.

Archway are basically holding up the complete regeneration of an entire area desperately in need of it

Could you imagine the political $hit storm if we said publically we were willing to double or triple whatever West Ham were paying each year.

Whilst driving the point that 4000 jobs on matchday would be created bringing in much needed income into the area to help pay for the stadium and the wider transport links.

Then at the end of the statement we add.. the stadium naming income alone for that season would quadruple having an A-List super club attached to the stadium. :)

Of course we will be allowed to play our matches in the Olympic stadium in two years time.

Barclays Premier League > Sky Bet Championship

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway Have Appealed

Apologies as I'm not too clued up on this whole issue, why exactly can we not play in a nearly finished WHL like the club said we would be able to? I noticed Bilbao managed to do that last season.
