I cycled past Old Trafford the other evening. Despite living within two miles of the place, I hadn't been up close to the stadium for a while. It struck me as rather charmless, sterile even. I don't know whether that's just because they're not _my_ club -- if old WHL weren't home to Spurs, would I be thinking "what a brickhole" rather than gazing around in wonderment?
The Etihad is the same, perhaps more so. Unlike Maine Road, where there was so much charm you could almost smell the urine.
It's pictures like that Edmonton sign that give me hope that NWHL will be as full of splendour as our old gaff.
