Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Didn't realise it had that reputation.

It's pretty much the only lager I drink - I'd always thought this was the reputation it had.
Sorry, It's not on the same reputation level as Stella. Stella has always been the "wifebeaters" drink and I reckon the drinkers of a certain type.

Peroni certainly has the classier status attached to it and the higher price but what I meant is that it is quite strong and gets you proper smashed. It also apparently has a lot of chemicals in it why it gives you a bad hangover (I have been told this so cannot back it up with any stats). I only really drunk Peroni but used to drink Stella when out with a certain mate that liked drinking it. That said, people on here know my problems with drink so Stella wasnt the best drink for me but I still drank it.

5 pints of fosters for me, for example, would affect me differently to having 5 pints of Peroni or Stella, but then thats mainly due to the alcohol percentage I guess.

Peroni is 5.2%
Stella is 4.8%
Fosters is 4%.

Stella was 5.2% until 2008 when they reduced it/changed recipe, so it's no longer the same stuff as the infamous wifebeater

Does that mean that the Peroni has now taken over the wifebeater status then? Strongest beer I drink (or used to).

It wasn't just the strength. You could always get 11% Elephant Beer if that was your thing (and unlike Special Brew, it's actually drinkable).

It was the chemicals in Stella that reputedly made people violent. I suspect it was more though that the brand appealed more to people of a more violent disposition.

It only went down a small amount, reputations take years to go. Skoda's still get laughed at by my generation (mid 30's) 25 years later even though they make superb cars now.

Beavertown make great beer, excellent choice.

Didn't a lot of lagers drop to 4.8% because of a taxable bracket?

I thought Stella was one of the few without chemicals?

I did suspect it was the recipe and there was something “different” about Stella compared to similar percentaged lagers all along but never actually knew that.

Always been partial to Stella, never had any violent tendencies off of the back of it.

Thrown up a few times, but that would be my fault!

Not a fan of Peroni. Its ok in a bottle but a horrible pint.
Obvious statement but people’s tastes and likes are completely different. I love(d) a peroni pint or bottle. Liked a Stella. Used to have kronenbourg but now can’t stand it. Fosters is just tinkle, birra moretti is lovely. Amstel is nice too.
Budweiser rank, Carling rank, carlsberg rubbish, export ok. Meisterpills, now you’re talking. San Miguel quite nice too. I’m lucky (or unlucky) I like most lagers but a few are ropey to me.

Im similar, happy to drink Stella, Amstel, San Miguel out of the commercial ones.

Carlsberg, Fosters, Carling ... Id rather a lime and soda.

Generally prefer the more craft type beers these days. Very partial to Hop House 13 (Guiness) at the moment.

Not had Meisterpills, will keep an eye out.

I drink very little lager, and only in bottles, never from tap. But I've gotten quite into Croatian ones recently - Ožujsko and Karlovačko are both very pleasant, though neither export much. I also drink Red Stripe at gigs/in clubs for old time's sake

Any brewed under licence are crap.
If its the original, which only the smaller ones tend to be now, then most are good.

My brother works for Tennants in Glasgow.
One year they did Stella under licence. They made three batches and the closest one got chosen.
Not, complaining, we got 48 cases of the rejected for our golf outing.
There was only 16 of us.
The bus was 20 mins late, we done in 2 cases before we got on the bus.

You sir, are what they call LAD positive.

If you are going to drink lager and have the choice, then you should really be looking at a German, Czech or Belgian beer as your first choice. Those countries take it seriously and have quality standards. Everything else can be fine if the weather is hot and it is cold but hardly worth seeking out.
