Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Isnt there a complex being built for the players to stay in at the training ground?

I was pretty sure this would be the plan. I believe there was planning permission applied for a while back for what would basically constitute a hotel.

The NFL players would all need to train, they're not going from a transatlantic flight straight to a stadium. Hotspur Way should be set up for visiting media and photo opportunities and I guess they'll make their way into London if they're due appearances on Regent Street or Trafalgar Square for example.

But yeah, being based at Hotspur Way seems the obvious choice.

Yes, construction is well underway. This is from September

Yes! It would be interesting for us to look over the details of it again. As it may well provide an answer for the NFL home team too. Each first team will only need a couple of pitches, so we could conceivably in the future have both Spurs and some NFL side training side by side at some point.

After a transatlantic flight your first stop will be a hotel. But then wasn't the new players complex at the training ground to be state of the art? Not sure it would work for a NFL circus with its many men, trainers, pom pom girls etc but it would be nice to fly into a home base where you can rest and train.

Would anyone get into NFL and start supporting a sister team that plays at NWHL?

It looks pretty substantial. How many bedrooms are there?

Edit 45 :)

How many in an NFL side?
over 50 players. Then Coaches etc. It seems like its not enough for 2 teams to stay there. Im sure they would need a pitch to practice as well. Maybe eventually they will stay in the apartments behind the New south Stand?

On another matter? I think its been covered but I cannot find it.

If for some reason we was 1 month over due on stadium delivery. And it takes us past the International dates in September. Are we allowed to play at Wembley for say 2-3 home games before switching back to New White hart Lane? the stadium would still be ready for the NFL if this was the case but maybe not for the premier league?

I don't think a team is allowed to play home games at more than one stadium in a single season, hence the talk of asking for the first few games to be away from home.
May be wrong though.

While technically possible, Scudamore has said that it will not be allowed.

K.5. Each Club shall register its Stadium with the Board and must play all matches in the
competitions listed in Rule L.9 for which it is the Home Club at the Stadium. No Club
shall remove to another Stadium (either on a permanent or temporary basis) without
first obtaining the written consent of the Board
, in accordance with Rule K.6, below.

K.6. In considering whether to give any such consent, the Board shall have regard to all
the circumstances of the case (including, but not limited to, the factors set out in this
Rule K.6) and shall not consent unless reasonably satisfied that such consent:

K.6.1. would be consistent with the objects of the League as set out in the
Memorandum;

K.6.2. would be appropriate having in mind the relationship (if any) between the
locality with which by its name or otherwise the applicant Club is
traditionally associated and that in which such Club proposes to establish
its Stadium;

K.6.3. would not to any material extent adversely affect such Club’s Officials,
Players, supporters, shareholders, sponsors and others having an interest
in its activities;

K.6.4. would not have a material adverse effect on Visiting Clubs;

K.6.5. would not to any material extent adversely affect Clubs (or Football
League clubs) having their registered grounds in the immediate vicinity of
the proposed location; and

K.6.6. would enhance the reputation of the league and promote the game of
association football generally.

Wham do it every year, so yes it should be fine. We'd play our away games in September, early Oct and give more time to finish off the stadium.

I guess an NFL team would prefer a proper hotel, ideally within 30mins of our training ground which they could use too.

So they can give approval via that rule if they so wish. I suppose that rule was put in to stop teams switching league games to bigger stadiums etc for more gate money?

but in this case? it might be viable if it did creep over the deadline and was beyond the international game dates in September.

Only if it's San Antonio Spurs!

Seriously though - nope, it's a godawful and boring sport. Rugby league with body armour and no flow whatsoever

I dont think they would link any NFL team to Spurs. That would cut off a lot of potential supporters straight away. They are more likely to try and make it have europe wide appeal should such a Franchise this side of the pond ever happen.

As for it being a godawful sport, well it has a lot of followers for a game with no flow ;) that is the point of it. Its more like physical chess than a flowing sport.

But then there's the hour queuing through Heathrow, because the Border Agency have no staff. And then the 2 hours stuck in traffic round the west and north-west sides of the M25.

1) I'd be amazed if they landed art Heathrow as opposed to an FBO.
2) I'd be surprised if they did not get private screening/security were they have to land at (say) Luton.

I'm thinking the teams will be on charters, most likely 737 or 767, and I'd expect the coaches and staff to determine when they want to leave/arrive, thus FBO.
