A vibrant public space spanning the area from the new Spurs stadium to a revamped White Hart Lane Station is at the heart of exciting proposals for north-west Tottenham launched for consultation today.
The link will form a buzzing focal point for the area with new homes, businesses and leisure facilities surrounding the new public space – benefiting the community and making the most of increased footfall on match days, when up to 56,000 fans will flock to the area.
Under the proposals, council tenants on the Love Lane Estate would benefit from a range of better and bigger homes built to meet their needs – from energy-efficient houses with gardens, to flats and maisonettes with private shared courtyards.
Haringey Council is calling on residents and businesses to share their views on three broad options for developing High Road West. The proposed area spans the area roughly between Coombes Croft Library and the former Cannon Rubber factory close to the junction with the western side of Brantwood Road.
The most ambitious option for change could bring up to 1,650 top quality homes, 600 jobs and 8,900m² of new open space over the next 15 years, as well as a new community and sports centre, facilities for start-up businesses, and a cinema or bowling alley.
Major improvements to White Hart Lane Station will include moving the entrance to the south, better accessibility and direct access to the new football stadium – making it easier and safer to use for both local people and visitors.
