Toby Alderweireld

That's exactly what I'm saying. Tiny plays and the whole team gains 5 yards

He also is a threat from set pieces

Fair enough. Either way, hope he comes back sharpish. I'm reminded of the scene from The Damned United, where Clough goes down on his knees and begs Peter Taylor to forgive him, saying 'I'm nothing without you' - that's literally how we are without Toby. :p

And we lose Dier in CM - Wanyama is decent but not the same level
Wanyama is doing fine there in my opinion, as good as and maybe even better than Dier. But that aside Dier's form has been poor, albeit being played at CB, and if we had an alternative he would probably have been dropped a while back.

If I was the Spurs manager (and I'd be super at that, tremendous) I would bench the underperforming players and Dier would be one of them. If Poch is running a proper meritocracy then he has to be a bit more ruthless with his selections and at the moment I don't see that.

Who do we play though, gaffer? If you're the Spurs manager and I was some sort of short, Spanish-speaking Jesus Perez sidekick, that would be the first thing I'd ask you. If we bench Dier, terrific, this is futbol, we need to keep working and show that we deserve to play, blah blah blah....but who do we have who can do a job at RCB if Dier's sent down? CCV?

I'd say "Hola Jesus, if you were better at reading English you'd had noticed I said if we had an alternative Dier would be dropped. Now go get me a coffee while I figure this brick out amigo"

When we have a bench that has a combination of Dier/lamella/Jansenn/Sissoko/son/Davies/ .. and other full internationals for good nations

Plus of course the like youngsters we will naturally look a better side

The mirror has always been anti tottenham, not sure why. I am not sure why anyone would think Levy would ever have a release clause and i seem to remember something years ago about them being illegal here anyway.

I don't think that they're illegal? I'm sure I remember Suarez having one when Arsenal tried to buy him.
