For me it is straightforward. Toby wants a better contract. Spurs have had their chance. He wants a crack from other clubs. Bye Toby.

Wonder whether he'd actually decide to go in the summer or wait til the year after?
What I mean is a club would have to pay £25m to get him, whereas a year later he could walk for free. Lets say his market value the year after has fallen to £15m given his age. In theory he could ask for that £15m from a new club as wages given its a saving on a transfer fee - £15m is £100k pw over a 3 year contract
Perfect Vincent Company replacement. If the reports are correct that we would have let him go in the summer for 25mil and received no offers, it may turn out that Toby's advisors have backed him into a corner.
At 25mil he looks like a bargain, but 30yr old defenders with a questionable injury record aren't really the in thing anymore. Different level but Jonny Evans went for 3mil to Leicester
Reports from last year are that he was offered one but turned it down.
Dont get why people think we would have taken £25m last summer
We’re guaranteed that now and we still have Him on his lower wages
That rumour doesn't make sense to me either
I can see Liverpool coming in for him the minute the £25m clause activates. He'd be an upgrade on Lovren, what they'd offer him compared to us would be no reason for him to think twice on that front, and they probably wouldn't find it difficult to convince him he'd stand a better chance of honours with them either (which I believe is an important consideration for him), especially if they win it this year. Man U might not be able to be so persuasive there.
No he’s gone to Rangers mateDefo a possibility
Boom boom!No he’s gone to Rangers mate
This is a horrible scenario I hadn’t thought of!I can see Liverpool coming in for him the minute the £25m clause activates.
