Timo Werner

It's just the fact that he's not a natural finisher. Give him a glorious chance that most forwards will put away 9 times out of 10, and he'll miss it 9 times out of 10.
I like his attitude and work ethic, but there are other players out there that also have that, AND are better in key moments. And they don't need to cost that much more either.
I'd have Nusa every day of the week instead of Werner, and thankfully it seems we're still looking at him.
Nusa... A wide forward who gets assists and goals? He has 3 goals in 19 games this season, hardly call that a prolific finisher..

3 assists too. Seems like a worse contribution than what Werner is giving us here and in more games? 😅

Feel like people get sucked in by lazy media narratives and ignore reality.

Nusa is 18 you macaron, and will only improve. Werner is 28 and has already peaked. From those 19 games, he's only started about half, so his g/a per minutes is very good.

I'm using Nusa as an example, as
I've been following him since I first saw him play for Stakbæk's reserve team in Norway' 2nd division when he was just turned 15. He was the best player on the pitch by a mile, scored a brace and provided 2 assists. He's an incredible talent, and has potential to become elite.

He's already better than Bobb at City, and he's doing OK...

We're trying to build something here, and going forward Nusa has a hell of a lot more potential than Werner.

Also, you're quite an annoying besserwisser, who replies in a negative way towards other posters in pretty much every post. Have you previously hung around and been scarred at COYS?

Watched the extended highlights this morning, without the hindrance of a stuttering river freezing every 30 seconds.

Werner looked very keen to take on players which was very encouaging. Would have preferred he buried that chance in the first half but at the end of the day, he is off the mark and I hope he really kicks on for the remainder of the season

Give it a rest, he isn’t going to miss 9/10 clear cut chances.

Sad to see Stabaek back in the 1st division, seems an age since those heady days of 2007-2009 and European football

Huh? My posts are negative because I disagree with you? On the whole I reckon I'm pretty optimistic, if a tad cynical at times.

Getting personal doesn't help the discussion, in my opinion.

Give the guy till the end of the season at least before writing him off. He's just getting going.

I don’t want to get into another debate about the quality of our forwards overall as we can’t do anything anyway until the summer so we need to see what plays out and assess in the summer. I’ll just say we need to see them put away more of the type of chances Werner missed yesterday (the one on one in the first half). He doesn’t hide to be fair.

He's already got more assists than Arsenal's front 3, now a goal, should have been two. If he keeps finding ways to contribute, he'll stay. What's he not providing, as you see it?
Is Arsenal your gold standard?

I wouldn’t back Jesus to finish that
I wouldn’t have backed Hojlund either for the first half of the season
Son or kane id put my house on scoring

They really fudged it up last season. Don't know what happened really. Their squad should have been good enough for mid table. But they're still good at bringing up good young players.

There's a slight supercilious tone in quite a few of your posts. Maybe you don't intend it that way, but it's a pattern I've noticed.

Jesus is a poor finisher just like Werner. Hojlund
may have scored it, he's not a poor finisher he just doesn't get many chances at United.
Hojlund is a good player
Potentially a very good one
But without his confidence… he would have missed imo
Now… he would hit it first time
That’s the key with strikers, confidence is huge

People are vastly over exaggerating that Werner miss in the first half. It's actually pretty difficult to run almost half the pitch through on goal. Son is very good at it, but in general a hell of a lot of forwards miss that sort of chance. To run at that speed and maintain your composure and skill and finishing to score all the way from literally the half way line whilst a defender is up your backside sprinting back is in no way an easy chance.

Foden a wide forward was through on goal today having to run a much smaller distance and didn't score - is a big deal being made of that? Yes Werner isn't Kane or Son in his finishing and yes his conversion rate could be better but that first half chance yesterday was far from easy and good on him for putting in a good all round performance and getting his first goal....

You’d still expect a top forward to score from there. I know what you mean about having the time to think about it and for the record I think he did the right thing trying to go round the keeper it was just his touch that let him down in that particular moment.

He's not a top forward to be fair, so we can't hold him to that standard. He's a decent player but still not one I'd want to be our primary wide attacking addition this summer.
