Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Best decision the club could have made. Thank **** Levy isnt listen to the fans anymore. A "big name" like Louis (good 20 years ago with a golden generation squad) Van Gaal or Enrique (from foreign league, played few English teams but looked half decent that one time) pointy-shouty bloke would have been a nightmare. And as I posted a bit earlier, would have reset our "project" meaning another season and a half (at least) of transition.

Soooo...

He's new to the management game...
Has a reputation for causing trouble backstage...
But is enjoying this stint???

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Compared to what they have paid, the are making a handsome profit.

Obviously but I severely doubt that we could make life awkward enough for them not to want to hold on for the maximum return.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Nothing will bring about the end for Levy because he owns a quarter of the club and his boss owns the rest. As we've seen in the past few years, chairmen can do just about anything with clubs now and fans will still continue to come.

I think this shows that AVB wasn't fired (certainly Levy wasn't planning anything) and that nobody wants to move right now. Which is fair enough. We should wait for the WC to end and then the manager merry go round will start.

Apparently he's very highly rated within the club and also a huge knob who's undermined 1 or 2 managers. As I said before, if this is true, perhaps this is what we need to move forward as a club. If he's as good as people at the club think he is, we have a great manager who we acquired for very little cost. If he's ****, we get rid of a man that apparently actively undermines managers.

I don't know if either of these are true but either way, we end up with him no longer in the position to undermine managers.

No point having a strop about it now, we need to move forward and see what he does.

Spot on

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Well i didn't see this coming at the start of the season.

I have to say i got an inkling that this might happen with Sherwood's ****sure responses in the last press conference. He just seemed to know it was in the bag. It is what it is. We've had cup winning coaches and its ended badly. I have no expectations for this season now so anything other than a relegation battle is a bonus for me

Heres to Sherwood, saviour of the mighty spurs. Time to crack open a can.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

I'm a bit surprised by an 18 month contract too, till end of season would have been good for starters. Timmy obviously by making a hard stance forced levy's hand to make a decision, but I wouldn't be surprised if Timmy got the sack by this season's end if we drop down the league and not win a cup.

I am yet to be convinced by his tactical acumen (oooeeerrr), but this December/Jan period will be a real baptism of fire. Let's hope we pick up confidence and get the all important wins, COYS !!!

I want him to do well, but as you point out he may not be there long. I know that it's a huge honour for Tim to step up and take charge of the Club, but it's also a gamble for him. If he fails, he's surely out and loses the great job that he already has.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

1 champions league appearance is all Levy cares about.

How many top 6 finishes under Sugar? When you consider the fact that we've not been bankrolled I'd say Levy is doing a very good job.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

I'm going to support him.
My choice is to be steeped in negativity.
I cannot do that.
Good luck Sherwood!
COYS!

Well done Steff son. I salute You for this attitude.

If only GB were so level headed.

This the journalist that apparently has a link with the club (potentially Sherwood if what people have been saying is true....?)

A few interesting insights if so

A lot of people said Jol and Redknapp took us as far as they could, and if we were to go to the next level, we needed a new manager.

Surely the same argument applies to the Chairman?

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Just a few questions, as this has me really stumped - no agenda here, honest!

Why is promoting from within better?
Why is young better?
Why is English better?

1) because he knows the way the club (and Levy) operates.
2) Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.
3) Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.

The problem with this argument is that a) if we look at most of the other chairmen in the league, Levy is a ****ing saint compared to them and b) Levy cannot be moved on, unless ENIC is moved on. And ENIC now have such a total hold over the club that ENIC and Levy will move only when they want to move.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

so is Sherwood a younger arry Redknapp????

there are certain similarities.....especially how he set us up on sunday.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Read my other response, I don't want Hoddle, but he's infinitely more qualified than Sherwood.

Levy is risking his stature within the club with this appointment.

Re the earlier poster about Bill Nic, different time, no media issues, no player egos, no CL demands

I am not for one moment suggesting Tim will be even a quarter as successful as Guardiola but what experience did he have before he took over Barca? He was managing their B side
