Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

A question for the doubters. Would your opinion on Sherwood change if Baldini had agreed with appointing him?

Not really. Personally I will support this guy because I support the club, but what a massive massive risk and it looks like a lack of ambition from the board. I don't really understand it following what was such a huge investment in the summer. What on earth does this guy know about managing big personalities and fragile confidence players who have come in for big fees?

He may do well, I hope he does but I seriously doubt levy after this. Maybe it's just a knee jerk right now and upon reflection i may feel different down the line.

All I ultimately care about is the club. I don't feel we've done things in the right way and I feel we need to find our identity as a club.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

I'd imagine they have quite a few suitors waiting in the wings willing to buy the club right now. If this goes tits up and the media turns on Levy even more so, then before the fans get involved the ownership may change before the value goes down.

Looking at the AVB sacking I was quite shocked at the number of posters postng displeasure at Levy. I had always imagined his undying support was high in the 90% but not any more, its waining by each decision he makes.

They might have people interested in buying the club but they will not want to sell it cheap and let someone else take their profit on it. ENIC are an investment company, they haven't bought us out of sentiment or to be popular.

I'm not sure if it was this thread or another where I mentioned it, but Levy is starting to look a lot like Abramovic without the money. The one thing that makes managers work for Abramovic is the money.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

It doesn't have to be a step up each time, merely maintaining our position is hard enough in itself. It looks like we've finally decided to trust the structure put in place. Coaches will come and go, what's important is to be shrewd in the transfer market and hire coaches that have the right footballing philosophies.

I think we'll be looking to promote more youngsters to the first team squad should work on the stadium begin. As bad as it sounds, we're doing what Arsenal have done, but without it being dependent on one guy (apart from Levy himself) .

From feeling gutted at having AVB sacked when i thought he deserved more time to having this un-experienced **** put in charge of the team I love. If the line up and tactical naivety from yesterdays game is anything to go by then we are in for a stressful season. I could handle him having a contract until the end of the season but not for a season and a half. What the hell has Levy done that for I don't know.

I am as gutted about this appointment as when we put gooner graham in charge. Sherwood is gooner as well as far as I am concerned.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Same here, I was just questioning those motives as reasoning.

If there's no better option, then let's just support who we're stuck with until there is.

This.
To the letter.
Good luck Tim Sherwood.
COYS!

A few potential positives of Sherwood…

1) He is a winner - and skipper of said-premier league winning side.
2) He is gritty - he won't stand for bull****.
3) He knows our youth set-up - whether Inglethorpe started it is less important than the fact that Sherwood continued it. he knows who's good and he knows who's promotable.
4) He is unafraid to play Eriksen as one of a central pair - he will give creativity it's chance to breathe.
5) He's arrogant and hungry - a decent combination.
6) Minimal further upheaval for our squad - they know him, he knows them, they've had tea together before so know what side to pass the sugar and milk!
7) Relief on the PR front - with Jamie Redknapp leading the ****-sucking charge, look forward to some relief in the press as they get behind 'our boy' etc, etc…

Shall
See!

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

come on huddy cant you give us a certain gif with a 'woo woo tims in charge \o/'

Nope, I don't think Tim is qualified to take control of Tottenham Hotspur.

I get the feeling that not unlike the youth of today in football having it thrown at them before they are ready is what drives the selfishness and stupidness in young footballers. I do not feel Tim Sherwood is ready for this role, he has not earned it, he has been given it.

You know what.. I think this whole thing stinks. Remember that guy who was seen speaking in Levy's ear during that game where Jol was being sacked. I feel that guy is similar to who has been appointed today.

I wish Tim Sherwood all the best. But right this moment something just doesn't feel right.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

I think I'm happy about this thought it might be Im still riding the wave from yesterday!

I've seen us have "transitional seasons" before, the one prior to Santini was the worst, and would rather we got on with it and appointed someone with the motivation to build and stay. Sherwood is young, why should he accept being a temp? If we win a trophy, or get into that top 4 (or even fifth given the competition this year) then IMHO he will have proven himself. If he signed till the end of the season only then all the talk would still be about our permanent boss.

And it's good to see he had the guts to say "either back me or find someone else". He knows the players, better than a random new guy anyway, and so he can hit the ground running to some extent.

Tim Sherwood might be a seemingly dull and uninspiring appointment but he was like that as a player and captained a team of greater talents to a Premier League title. He's highly rated within the club and does seem committed to a passing game at least.

Anyway good luck Tim and lets see you take this project onwards and upwards. COYS

Whilst those that do have some undeniable qualities, managerial appointments don't seem to be in that list.

Compared to what they have paid, the are making a handsome profit.

Very close to my thoughts

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

The appointments that can truly be considered failures (Hoddle, Santini, Ramos) were attempts at pandering to a demanding fan base. This one has much more in common with Jol.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

Nothing will bring about the end for Levy because he owns a quarter of the club and his boss owns the rest. As we've seen in the past few years, chairmen can do just about anything with clubs now and fans will still continue to come.

I think this shows that AVB wasn't fired (certainly Levy wasn't planning anything) and that nobody wants to move right now. Which is fair enough. We should wait for the WC to end and then the manager merry go round will start.

Apparently he's very highly rated within the club and also a huge knob who's undermined 1 or 2 managers. As I said before, if this is true, perhaps this is what we need to move forward as a club. If he's as good as people at the club think he is, we have a great manager who we acquired for very little cost. If he's ****, we get rid of a man that apparently actively undermines managers.

I don't know if either of these are true but either way, we end up with him no longer in the position to undermine managers.

No point having a strop about it now, we need to move forward and see what he does.

Re: Tim Sherwood -Your Manager! 18 month contract confirmed!

I have a gut feeling he'll do well.

Let's see if he can change the nature of our home performances and results. Two games now against sh1te teams, we could be in an excellent position by the time we play Utd away.

Plenty of attacking, get the crowd onside rather than bored to death. COYS!
