Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Save it, when against the top 4 teams we are still ****:ross:

the only crucial point is conceding six points to the goons....well three of those down to Sherwood...

You could argue that Sherwood like Wenger is effective at beating the lower ranked teams but just as innefective against the big boys..only difference is the goons got the points off us. so were screwed for top 4

And yet as far as I know, you get exactly the same number of points for beating teams like Stoke and Palace as you do for beating teams like Liverpool and Chelsea.

Or has there been a new rule chance which slipped my attention?

lets have a dream team, TS takes on the crap, get AVB back for 8 games a year against the better sides

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

This is so far from the truth for many people that it beggars belief. I fully believe that you don't read everything said about him. I will freely admit I am in freefall monosyllabic mode with regards to 'his' tenure, however it's what lead me to this frankly dirty, filthy and seedy position which should trouble you and others who think he's 'alright' the most.

This club has standards. Off the pitch as much as on it. And frankly, he has shown me that he isn't fit to serve the likes of Sir Bill, Burky or even Martin Jol (a manager who I still believe had reached the end with us) a cup of tea. The critical component is showing class. Tim Sherwood has the class of a dime bag hooker with tourettes, and that's regardless of his accent.

Mate I concur that he isnt perfect and has some pitfalls - mainly his naiveness with the media etc but im looking at it from a football perspective. I guess im one of those where I dont give a ****e of what happens outside of the pitch and in particular the footballing side. Its the same way I dont give a ****e what my employees do outside of the workplace (within reason i.e. not killing anyone haha).

At the moment he has some way to go but we know for a fact that he has got the team accumulating points even if it is against teams 'who are easy'. I am open to bringing in a new Manager but not for the sake of it as some on here seem to be in the mindset of. Poch for example has had one and a bit seasons in the league and he is a huge risk who may be an absolute failure. Frank De Boer on the other hand excites me and if it means keeping TS for a year and seeing FDB next summer then so be it. Im intrigued by TS and what he can do and would give him the season. Either way we win - although no guarantees of FDB coming but thats something in due course.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Those who want to give TS next season as well, ask yourselves the following:

- who do you think he will target this summer for our key/vacant positions: LB, CB, CF, LW? I'm basing this on him playing 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 and/or Ade perhaps not being around.

- players with potential from overseas, especially those we may see in the summer at the World Cup, who we may be interested in targeting for our current positions to challenge for CL; do you think any of them would be attracted to play for TS?

- Can we afford to get rid of most of last summer's Bale-sponsored buys? We know he only rates Eriksen. We may have already lost Lloris and Vertonghen..

- Who do you think TS will replace the above with?

- What do you see in our current play, set-up etc that makes you think our play/results will get better than their current level? What makes you think this is NOT 'as good as it gets' and that next season he will be found out and be in a worse position than we currently are, i.e. knocking around consistently around 10th?

- Can we afford more squad divisions, which he seems to be fostering (e.g. love for Soldado vs Kane)?

You want to dance baby?? okay lets dance :)

- LB I think he will show faith with rose and utilise Fryers as back up, CB I have no idea but we need someone (over to Franco) for the cf position I would like us/him to consider Benteke,Lukaku & certainly Loic Remy dont think he will sign a winger tbh

-We cannot attract the top peforming players from the WC anyway and buying players off the back of a WC is always very risky...Considering the likes of Bale & Modric have used us a a stepping stone to the pinnacle of club football ala Madrid I think young talented players would be foolish to discard us just because they dont know our manager

-I dont want us to hastily sell any of the beatles....however we dont know what their attitudes are like behind the scenes... I want them all to get the second season and yes I want Lamela to show us what he can do but that goes hand in hand with working hard and putting Tim in a position where he cant not play them....Chadli & Pauli came in from the cold...why not Capoue, Sandro, Lamela? WE DONT KNOW he only rates Eriksen.....If Lloris leaves then go for Begovic...if verts leaves then Franco needs to earn his wedge.

-I agree the peformances are not wonderful and they are far from convincing...I would expect Tim to develop different styles over a pre-season and try different set-ups and teams...I DONT KNOW whether we will come out fighting fit for the new season or its a 2 from 8 syndrome...I dont know I just think from inheriting a negative situation I feel we have attained a decent amount of wins and we are bagging a few goals...something which was woefully lacking for the first half of the season.....as I think he's done a fair to decent job this far I would give him a pre-season.

-We can afford the divisions if it ensures our more talented players dont slack off and dont drop their standards....stop moaning and work hard and when you play make it count!

- It is massive next season...financially I outlined how important it was in the v.2 thread... All I will say is Chancer's post sums up my views on the RISK level between keeping tim or going with Poch... LVG doesnt want to come and top quality options as coach that we can attract are pretty thin on the ground...And yes im curious to see what would happen if Timbo gets the pre-season....who stays who goes.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Replies in bold mate

Sounds OK dunno what your problem is Steff…

Indeed, such a shame it's not 'that' sort of filth LOL…

I don't get why it's not OK just to dislike the guy, to just think he's a **** who I want away from my club? He can stick his win percentage up his goon supporting ****. Best manager ever or whatever, **** off you ****. There were plenty who felt the same about the PowerPoint king I'm sure, no doubt it was OK then though, don't remember much "better the devil you know" then. I'll take the next devil now, cos he might be less of a bellend.

Agreed mate…agreed.

No, but the games against the teams around you are the 6 pointers.

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

Id congratulate him and the team on doing a good job of getting record points. But lets not go on like AVB wasnt our manager for just under half the season too..

If we do get 72 points this season, 45 will be won by Sherwood from 22 games (2.05 points per game) and 27 would have been won by AVB from 16 games (1.69 points per game).

As ever, fair play for a fair argument mate. Obviously I disagree, but we both knew that anyway...;)

Yeah yeah Tim was clueless today against a team that beat Arsenal,Chelsea & Man Utd at the Brit!

funny....Paxton in the 'back from the brit' thread said he got the subs nailed on...weve all seen plenty of times where 10 men can strangely give the opposition the initiative...added to that massive support from the trogs in the stands it was difficult for us.

Last season AVB got 44 points from those same 22 fixtures and 28 from first 16, meaning he was just 1 point down when he left.

He did the right thing with Rose, wont argue with that.

You really want to compare last season when AVB had Gareth Bale to this season when Sherwood didn't?

Really?

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

Meant to vote no, accidentally clicked yes in my groggy state.

Tries his best, heart on sleeve but the football isn't progressive and we've gotten away with lots of wins under him that should have gone the other way.

TIM OUT

HODDLE IN

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

If Moyes is the only alternative then most certainly YES. If we can get Van Gaal, then no.

Tim has drawbacks like any manager but at least he gets us attacking. He's managed to get the best out of Abebayor and successfully blooded a couple of youngsters. And although he's been ****e in cup competitions he's got a decent win record in the PL. On top of that he knows what Tottenham is about and as a manager is learning fast on the job.

Too many on here are put off by his public persona but for me it's all about how the team plays.

Interesting comment.

In a sense you're right. But personally speaking, his repeatedly self-serving machiavelian behaviour over a period of YEARS, coupled with his big mouth, has sealed the fate.

My PERSONAL desire would be a massive gamble on Big Phil Scholari. I think he'd be a LEDGE for us, at the very least highly entertaining in all senses and the sort of man who could do wonders for our weekly spirits and smiles. I don't see anyone making that move, but I'd love it.

Interesting to hear Adebayor say he's never heard opposition fans take such exception to a decision and provide subsequent sustained support in the manner of the Stoke fans today.

He's not been to an under 8s Sunday morning game.

Re: Do you want Tim Sherwood to stay as manager?

do you think everyone that defended AVB is not a fan of Sherwood then, or vice versa?

as it certainly doesn't seem that way to me

I don't think anyone is a fan of Sherwood.
I just think the "AVB got 72 points last season and shouldnt be sacked" argument was silly at the time.
