Thomas Frank - Head Coach

You need the players to play great passing football first - i haven't seen that since 2018, so no evidence to suggest these players are capable of that. We certainly didn't play great passing football last season or the one prior with the bulk of this squad.

And the inability to do so this season is not just on manager instructions like being painted, some are just not up to it or don't have the conviction

I think that the tactics/direction from the manager will be contributing - we cannot absolve him of responsibility but there seems to be this idea that we were a good passing team prior to this season being pushed which is just absoloute poppyrooster

It will play its part, but as per the errors and the lacking of basics, I think that comes from a core of the players and yes confidence and manager..........I don't think booing them when the touch the ball helps either.

But I agree and def agree with your summary

When our previous manager arrived, I recall one or two saying he should be given at least six windows to get his players who can play his system.

Trophies appease supporters temporarily, form makes them happy. Winning the EL was a sticking plaster

Just as winning West Ham’s first European trophy since 1965 wasn’t enough for Moyes to keep his job when the team exhibited such a losing mentality in domestic league… a PL century of mostly misery for both of us punctuated by a cup run.

I think in our case it was sorely needed and we needed to get the monkey off our back. I agree with the sentiment though, if you’re not a consistent team or you’re watching rubbish football, the fans will get disgruntled.

Our fans get a bad rep, especially on here. But I feel we’re not as hard to please as some make out. The fanbase was pretty united Poch, Redknapp and Jol. Even under Conte the fans were onside for the most part and the football was hardly scintillating.

The reason they get a bad rep, in part, is because they don't help themselves in the main. This place was awash with "would you take a couple of years of 14th and the odd cup" debates to the point it was about as interesting as the yearly Poch debate haha, many of whom have now parked it and taken a turn down negative lane despite protesting so much in that debate. Thats not to say they can't be, they can be what they like, but its not consistent at all at times.

My gripe is should we be booing individuals at football matches again especially given those guys, regardless if I think they are good enough, were absolute heroes 6 months ago? The answer to that for me is no and its a major talking point given the press the booing has gained.
