Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Agreed. It doesn't help, and whatever flaws Frank has as a mediocre coach, he's still human. The visceral dislike for him personally that so many have saddens me, because the man himself is inoffensive almost to a fault.

There is basically nothing about him, good or bad. He's an empty tracksuit. But he gets far worse treatment than even Ange did, who cupped his ear at the fans, and basically goaded them non-stop for being unhappy we constantly lost.

I get why it happens, and I don't blame anyone - but it isn't helpful.

And didn’t read the room re his views on fans wanting us to lose to Emirates Marketing Project to stop Arsenal winning the league.

Look at this logically of course he was going to big up the Frank hire. What’s he going to say? The Gooner VV and I had to buckle because I was under pressure.

AND if Gooner VV didn’t want Frank with the run we are in how the hell is Frank still in a job? They could have fired him blamed it on Levy.

AND AGAIN… if the Nepos let Levy hire a manager r knowing they would force him out in a couple of months, then we are in serious serious trouble

As I got told many times when I was criticising the man - that's just speculation, mate. What we know is, he sacked Ange, hired Frank, gave it large on club media (and to Gary Neville, iirc?) about hiring Frank and how it aligned with our ambitions and values, etc.

It was very much his decision based on all we know. Beyond that, it's speculation.

As for what the Lewis kids do, frankly I don't think they do much of anything. They're both pushing 60 and have achieved nothing other than be Joe Lewis's kids. That in itself says something.

What was the points gap in Jan last year?

Did we not get in Danso and the highly rated (at the time) Tel in January?

Did we sell our top goal scorer that January as well?

We’d already sold our top goal scorer of all-time and replaced him with…no one for a year, and then with Solanke (who I like, but is only a cut above average).

We’ve now got a front line of him, Tel, Muani and Richarlison.

It’s gross ineptitude.

Is there a position we have sought to or managed to improve in 10 years other than CB?

The decline and over spending on replacements for replacements for replacements is staggering.

We have cornered the world in CM with no one managing to be good enough to nail down the role.

Who was going to leave on a free after the year. You don’t answer the questions I asked here is a another one… was that in January when we’re were heading for a relegation battle?

He’s been put in an awful position. Absolutely. But he’s paid to manage and having us 16th or whatever and flirting with relegation in February is massive underachievement. He’ll have his P45 tomorrow and I’ve seldom seen a more deserving recipient.
Even with the injuries, there's no doubt in my mind that it's possible to get more out of the squad we have. It's not the 16th worst set of players. No way!

On paper maybe not but the circumstances contribute to the mess, I include Franks mismanagement in that but we are in a perfect storm also IMO.

Other clubs with more limited resources have in some examples had the same manager for 2/3 season and they have made a side in their vision and get the best of what they can out of it, but also have a known culture.

We have chopped and changed and there isnt one shred of identity at our club, there hasn't been for years, not only that we are relying on prospects who on paper look impressive compared to Fulham etc but im sorry, but having to rely on the likes of Odobert and Tel who have almost no history of playing at the top level, let alone in a relegation fight or an injury crisis, we'll for me it just all plays to where we are.

Football isnt played on paper, if it was we would all be rich, this club is staring into the abyss currently and as the manager Frank shoulders the blame, but im sorry, this is not all solely on him, the place has stunk for a long time and there are plenty of chickens coming home to roost here.

It's no coincidence that the clubs been a pantomime off the pitch this season also

And now he is gone we are in a true relegation battle, something that we never were with him here.

You backed Brexit didn’t you?

We finished 17th last season.

We also lurched from one managerial style to the next with zero continuity unlike proper clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool where there is actually some succession planning.

And no I voted remain actually. Not sure how that’s relevant to this conversation 😂

Getting rid of Levy was one of the best decisions we’ve made in years.
& Yet with the exact same owners without Daniel we did nothing to strengthen the squad not even A loan or two. I believe If Daniel were here Frank would be long gone & we would have done more in the transfer market. how long does Daniel have to be gone before it's no longer his fault.

We finished 17th last season but were never in threat of relegation we also won the second biggest European competition.

I’m supprised you say you voted remain, I will have to check out the politics thread to see your views.

Levy has quite a bit of responsibility for the mess we are in now to be fair. That said, I think we’d be better off if he was still in control. We’d have been more active in January and I believe he’d have binned Frank long before now.

Whether Levy going was right or wrong, the way it was done and the timing of it was foolish and it could have catastrophic consequences.

I’m no fan of the current regime either. Levy most likely would have sacked Frank but he also gave Ange a lot of latitude before eventually pulling the plug.

How long before it’s no longer his fault? Well his methodology of changing from one managerial style to the next has ultimately left us with a group of players that aren’t suited to a particular system or stole of play. Hard to quantify but a few years I’d say.

Only because we were fortunate that there were 3 teams who were worse than us by a distance. The points total now is almost identical to this stage last season. That’s not a fluke.

Go for it, kind of feels like I’m being vetted at this point. Again not sure the relevance.
