The youth players/on-loan thread 2015-16

Pritchard was a class above everyone else on the pitch. Just smooth, oozed class and was so much better in one-on-ones than any other player i.e. he came away with the ball from EVERY 50:50. He talked a lot and guided Ogilvie a lot. And he got annoyed with Azzaoui and Harrison for dwelling for too long on the ball. His first goal was a lovely direct free kick, which came 30 secs after another direct free kick from a few yards further back which was also well struck and on target. His second goal was really well worked. We were much less of an attacking threat in the second half with him off the pitch.

Oduwa was pretty frustrating, constantly making the wrong decisions, but his goal was very well taken indeed - and dare I say it, he runs like and holds the ball like Ade

Will Pritch be our Scholes?

Funny you say that about Oduwa... I posted on here that he's starting to look like Ade (perhaps the haircut).

No idea re scholes/Pritchard comparison

I like what I see with Pritchard for sure, but scholes did it at the highest level....can pritch do that? No idea!

Hmm. I read tonight that it was looking like a no go as we wanted assurances over how much playing time he would get, which Leeds would not give us.

Hmmm, do you guys know anything about this chap? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33840538

Reece Oxford: West Ham teenager was rejected by Tottenham

West Ham's 16-year-old midfielder Reece Oxford says Tottenham turned down the chance to sign him before he joined their Premier League rivals.
Oxford made his top-flight debut in a surprise 2-0 victory at Arsenal on the opening weekend of the new season.
He joined West Ham at under-13 level after leaving Spurs and is now the club's youngest ever first-team player.
Oxford said Spurs "did not want" him, adding: "I went to West Ham, which was the best option for me."
Read in-depth analysis from MOTD2's Danny Murphy on how Oxford helped West Ham keep Arsenal out
The teenager described the Hammers' youth academy as "great" and said "they like to push players".
He added: "West Ham have been giving the young players who are coming through a chance.
"Last season I was on the bench a few times, so I expected to be around the team again this season, but not starting against Arsenal."

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker was one of the many observers impressed by Reece Oxford
Hammers manager Slaven Bilic was confident Oxford had the mentality to cope, saying the teenager would even be untroubled by facing Barcelona striker Lionel Messi.
"If Messi was in front of me, I'd be more fazed than Reece," Bilic said.
Oxford helped restrict the Gunners to few clear-cut opportunities and had the best successful pass percentage in the match - 95%.
Bilic added on Sky Sports: "People were asking: 'Are you sure he is 16?'
"It was going to be a risk but he has got something. I am very proud of him. He is a part of this new generation."
Reece Oxford
West Ham academy manager Terry Westley told BBC Radio 5 live that Oxford captained the under-21s last season aged 15 and said he is "thirsty" to test himself against the "hardest opponents possible".
Westley credited Oxford's mental strength on the "influence at home", adding that his mum was "very tough and strong with him".
He added: "He didn't join Tottenham, obviously he lives very close to the Arsenal training ground and is an Arsenal boy - so we're delighted we've got him."

I touched on it before here - http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/commun...oan-thread-2014-2015.6646/page-50#post-707103

I believe he was a striker when we let him go. Of course now though the narrative is set that he's a superstar in the making because he's been given the exposure that others haven't been afforded yet, we'll see.

What happened to that Morrison chap that west Ham had? was he not supposed to be the next best thing? and that other guy Sears was it?

West Ham big up players far too much, if he was any good he would still be with us.

22 year of age and already been through 6 clubs, Fergie bombed him out because of his attitude.

Even so I'm pretty sure Champions League Lazio were in for him this summer... Did anything come of that!?

He contract was ending at W.Ham this summer and he was due to link up with Lazio then. However Spam terminated his contract early and he went over to Italy and trained with them for the rest of the season.

There have been reports that he has not settled in Italy so I have no idea what will happen.

Morrison's been playing and scoring quite a few in pre season for Lazio, albeit against teams one up from pub sides. It probably won't last long though as he's bound to do something stupid and ruin it for himself.

As has already been suggested, it looks like Veljkovic's loan to Leeds won't be happening because they refuse to guarantee a minimum amount of game time.

He's good enough that I'm certain someone at around the same level will offer him more playing time... which is what he needs. I definitely would not want to see him sitting on someone else's bench for the majority of the season; and I'm sure Spurs don't want that either.

I am actually glad if the deal at Leeds falls through as the club is always in turmoil, 9 managers in the last 3 years (5 in the last year alone). I hope he gets a club with a bit more stability.

Rangers (and more specifically their manager who had Pritchard last season) can be our development club.

Looks like the Veljkovic loan to leeds might fall through because we are asking for some guarantees that he will be played (which to me says we still are very much keen on him)

Oduwa wasn't getting in Luton's side last season and Pritchard was in the second tier.

It doesn't mean they don't have big futures, or even that they can't do immediate jobs for us (see Mason jumping straight from Donny Rovers to our first choice CM).
Pritchard was one of the best few players in the second tier.

IMO Oduwa has a long way to go before he can make a difference to our first team.
