The transfer window thread.

I don't expect any incomings in Jan, outgoings maybe but i think incomings will wait for the summer

Not when our squad is already so trim. We currently have 26 senior players, plus Whiteman, Tanganga, Skipp and Parrott on the fringes.

Wanyama is about the only player we could lose without needing to replace. Aurier, Eriksen and Rose only if we make very brave decisions about the readiness of Foyth, Lo Celo and Sessegnon.

If it's true that they are all on pretty low wages ( comparatively) would it not be worth while buying out a couple their contracts and get rid. Make space for incomers.

The displays of some of them recently I don't think they have much value to us either.
Yup, Alderweireld’s legs have gone (despite being 2 years younger than Vertonghen) which opposition scouts clearly noted when they declined to offer £25m for him.

Rose has already been allowed to talk to other clubs and turns 30 next year, so hopefully we can shift him before his legs go too; at least he still puts in a good shift.

Davies is a good squad player who’s probably not on high wages, so worth keeping around.

Wanyama’s perma-crocked and only time will tell if Dier plus Dele can regain the form of 2 seasons ago after their injury woes; at least the latter pair are young enough that they should still go for a decent fee if Pochettino wants to shift them.

Lamela finally appears to be over the worst of his hip problems but still not fulfilled the goal scoring potential he showed for Roma and it’s only really his tenacity which makes him worthy of spot in team.

Eriksen clearly intends to pocket his transfer fee which I wouldn’t begrudge him if he gave us his all (like Ramsey, Hazard or Modric) but doesn’t appear he has that mindset; which ironically is going to cost him £millions in signing on fees plus deter the top clubs he wants to play for.

Can but hope that Kane still believes in the project, as he’s approaching the prime of his career but Harry’s lack of activity on social media this past week suggests that there a limit to how much disappointment and abuse our star player can take too.

Harry is the key and the enigma in all this.
I can't figure out if he has given up on poch (least likely option imo), is caught between loyalty to poch or his mates in the squad and is trying to be all things to all men, or can just see everything disintegrating around him and trying his hardest to fight fires everywhere.

Imho we do everything we can to keep him and son, add Davies and Jan, maybe Hugo, hope Dele and dier recover and anyone else that wants to go can go.

Reads like the ending of a movie with factual characters.

You’ve changed your tune a bit.... I though you always used to advocate a small squad of 22 or so?

I wouldnt have Aurier anywhere near the team - we are in a hole and we need battlers, not players like him. Play Foyth at RB from now on and sign a RB in Jan. At least Foyth will have some drive and ambition, and likely buy-in to Poch - thats what we need right now

I think that before we start talking about targets we need to know what formation Poch intends to go forward with. All of last summer's speculation and resultant signings indicated that Poch was building a squad for the diamond (multiple CM's, wingbacks, but no wingers nor specialised DM's).

For a multitude of reasons this system does not work and is going to require a rethink from the boss. Only once he makes a decision on where he wants to take this can we really talk about future purchases. If he goes for a back three, then we need a very good right wing back, quite a specialised purchase. If we are talking about a 433, then a proper DM and another wing forward are more important as both KWP and Foyth can look after RB in a conservative role.

Kane and Jan are the only two I'd make a major priority to keep.
Even then only if they want to stay and fight.

Same, weirdly 7 of those 8 started at the weekend though. I think things have just gone stale and tempers have frayed because of that, we'll never really know.

FTFY :D

I'm suprised he ended up with and staying at Saudi Sportswashing Machine. When he was at Basel, there was a lot of noise about how he was going to be a great defender in a great side.
