If we don't win the league this season, we have to win it next year! No pressure then. Maybe that is an additional consideration for Levy when weighing up the Wembley deal.
 
Our current squad may have been one of the strongest in our history. But it won't mean anything if we don't win a trophy. Remember, the 1987 squad is forgotten easily because they failed to win a trophy despite having so many big name players and a strong squad.

Yes, but the 1987 team wasn't playing in a rigged league with 5 teams spending 2X+ wages and spending in a single transfer window more than the total cost of our first 11.

The bar has moved, like all fans I want us to win trophies, but 2nd & a cup final would still be success due to the circumstances we face.

Is this setting the bar low? or is it just realism. We all know that football is controlled by finances. On a whole, money does buy success in any of the leagues. That said, we should aim high, the hightest. But be proud that with an English core and limited wage budget we are fighting above our so called station.

No question we should aim for it all, but we should not fall for the narrative (like last season as example) where should Chelsea win the title and we come 2nd, somehow Spurs failed, but Manure/City/Pool/Scum get a pass?

At this point, we need to be proud of our team, will them, back them to aim high, but not let others deflect their failing on us.

Harry Kane became the first Spur to score in five-successive league derbies against Arsenal when he struck home from the penalty spot to secure victory against the Gunners on Sunday.

Our current run of 13 has already toppled the previous best in the Premier League set at eight in 2009, again set across two seasons.

As of now, we also have the least number of defeats(6) and least goals conceded(22) in Div 1/PL in our history ! This is a record breaking season alright. Wish we can win a trophy to show for all these records though. It is going to be very difficult to accept if we are to lost out in the title race after coming so close for 2 seasons in a row.

I'm baffled by claims that being in a title fight and finishing 2nd is the same as us failing. I have seen failures by this club in the past and that's not it.

I would love for us to have another shot at the title next season.

That is the worst set of expectations I have ever seen referenced .. almost every one is wrong

To me, Sunderland or Cheat$ki being a surprise? maybe slightly/better or worse, but Cheat$ki was always likely to be a challenger (ffs, they one it the season before), Sunderland were always going to be in the relegation battle. Spurs on 66 points? only once in the last 5 years we haven't bettered that, and that wasn't having an obviously improving side after coming 3rd ...

We had been in title race for 2 consecutive season without being in top place. It seems, just like the FA Cup Final, 1st place in the league is a jinx to us. If we can overcome that and move into 1st place at least for 1 week, I think we can stay there ! Poor ManCity, they were running away with the title until they lost to us and they never recovered from that. Would have preferred ManCity to won the league title instead of our traditional rivals like Chelsea.
