I remember the media hype when banana was thrown in St. Petersburg to Roberto Carlos.
Some people even suggested to ban Russian clubs from Europe and to take away WC hosting.

When such things happen in Spain or England, they're just funny moments to talk about.
Nice double standards.

That's not true really. If anything this incident with Alves has brought more attention to the topic than it otherwise would have received. Whether they'll act on this incident or not, I'd say not. FIFA and UEFA are paid cowards and have more pressing things to do like banning snoods.

People are applauding Alves, his quick thinking in the situation and his reaction afterwards towards the idiots that we all know unfortunately still exist.

He treated the idiots right and people are happy to see that as the associations tend to fail.
 
Lol just listened to some guy that knows the person who threw the banana. Apparently the lad was given the banana by his mother for dinner, he took it with him to the match where he then had an argument with his girlfriend. In his anger he threw the banana on the pitch.

Sounds plausible enough.
