He was angry because he felt the team didn't give enough attention to the Madison in comparison to the other events. Wiggins was in lots of other track events.

I would have thought winning golds at the world championships in 2005 and 2008 suggests he is good at the Madison. He also won the gold at the 2006 Commonwealth games in the scratch race. I think it reasonable to say that if he'd stayed on the track and trained for these events he would be better now.

He was in a team with Wiggo. Wiggo was knackered after winning 2 golds in the days before. Cav had dropped out of the tour early especially for it and everything. That's pretty much the reason British Cycling went all out to try to win the Road Race for Cav this time, they felt they kind of owed him something.
