Yeah no excuse for that. He’s leaving on a high having just played in a part in winning a title. United and Liverpool fans just don’t think a player should ever leave them under any circumstances.

Probably more accurate. I mean, all football fans are tribal and fickle, and to pretend something else to such a degree as Liverpool do, makes it all so much more embarrassing when brick like this happen.
It will have to be a combination of United paying him off and the next club giving him a hefty sign on fee. Don't think United can expect much in terms of a fee for him.
