The Official 2024/25 Premier League Thread

Just leaving this here. Arsenal are labelled as heroic and playing so well. We drew at city last year, with two full backs as Centre backs, attacked city all game, and got very little praise.

Just came here to make a similar post
Better signings than us..
new manager bounce…

Speaking to my spam mates they think the football sub worse and the players look lost

They can’t wait until our game to have their cup final
I don't rate Lopetegui as a manager. Fortunately clubs like West Ham do.

And taken from the wrong place. So much wrong with that sequence it's unreal.
Kovacic waiting to come on , ref restarts without letting him on , Rodri barely off the pitch , city gave the free kick away because they were outnumbered in midfield , Kovacic should have been allowed on. Then when he comes , he's getting instructions and the scum take the kick quickly from the wrong place while Walker is out of position because the ref called him over and didn't let him get back in position !
So now we have a 1-2 game with city's best player off the pitch , atmosphere killed completely when the score should be 2-0 or 3-0 and probably would have been but for that mad minute or two.
Talk about the dark arts and tinkle poor officiating.
Wasn't Michael Oliver the ref who misses the blatant kick on Davies in the penalty area during NLD last season? Even though he was looking right at it? I don't normally criticize refs but that was diabolical and only rescued by var. Bet Oliver was gutted when called over to the screen.

Very poor
They had no idea
Weirdly they played like us
Has it crossed any of your minds, that maybe it's exceptionally hard to break down a team parked in their own box?

Because that's exactly what it is! It's bloody hard, and you need the defenders to slip up, lose their concentration or otherwise have a bit of luck! It's not like "just do this or just do that" and you score. If that was the case, everyone would do it.

Course it has
But when it’s us it’s because we’re brick
Our fans say its tactics and management

Teams need to change the way they defend set pieces against Arsenal. Sounds easy of course, but firstly protect your goalkeeper by blocking their runners from the side and look for and block Gabriel’s run. At least if you do the former you can give your goalie a chance to collect the delivery into the box.

Rodri reportedly out for the season. Massive blow for City. Big boost for the bullies down the road.

Took them just 3 seconds to get the first hit on Rodri.

Awful tactics to try and take a player out so you can win a game.
I hope Rodri makes a quicker than expected recovery.

I agree with you.

Would also wonder whether Rodri's workload over the last few seasons meant that he was more susceptible to that injury. He's put his body on the line for years.

Might sound simple but for me if I was a keeper I'd position myself 3 yards off my line, centrally. Any cross near the 6 yard box should either be caught or punched from that position. Outside of that, I'd expect my defenders to do their jobs.

Part of me is highly amused by Haaland’s behaviour (the above, plus throwing the ball at Saliba). However, the grown up part of me thinks he’s an incredibly bad loser and not able to control his emotions, causing petulance to take over. Not a good look in my view. Although funnily enough, it probably brings in tons of viewers.

And yes, I know he didn’t ‘lose’ on Sunday.

Honestly, I wish we had some bad losers, we've had way too many over the years that don't seem to give a fudge.
